Postby rnorrish » 17 Jul 2010 06:42

just a reminder that this weekend is the Vintage Races at Mission.

come bring your car, park in the Corral, and squeeze in a parade lap at lunch.

should be a great weekend in the sun! you never know who or what you might see!

When will the parade lap happen Rich? Sat or Sun - or both days?

I'll be out on Sunday.

Sunday only, I guess...
There was hardly any spectators today, let alone a car corral.

I'm be turn working at T7. I'll find you at lunch likely, as it's over an hour long. Lots of time to visit.

Well, I got to represent the PL510 in the parade laps around Mission today at lunch - pretty cool. Then I parked my car in the corral for public viewing. I got parked beside a sweet early mustard Z car - beautiful car. I placed my hood open. As I watched from a distance, the Z got hardly any attention! Yet the Bronze always seemed to have someone looking at it. Not that I minded at all, but I were the owner of the Z, I think I would have been a bit miffed. We were the only two Datsuns there. The Porsche mark probably made up half of the corral. I got a kick out of the guy in the Rolls Royce, with the checker table cloth, and the and his equally well dressed wife enjoying some wine in the heat! The Fiat 500 was cool; Rich thought there must have been 8 people in that car on the parade lap... I didn't think that could be possible. I had a Mini wagon in front of me. But most important was the help I got from the two guys behind me who push started the Bronze. There I am near the front of the line for the parade lap, we get the go signal, I get in and the damn starter doesn't want to engage! DAMN!!! Of course do you think I can get the problem to repeat? NO. Gotta hate those ones! I'll be checking connections and go from there. Thanks to the grey Mini guys

Paul did well today on the track. He took a full 2 1/2 seconds off last year’s time, but we're still back markers. Not sure where he wants to go now. We have a bit of an oil leak, looks like the rear main, but not quite sure at the moment. Otherwise, all we did was play with tire pressures - that's kind of a nice way to spend a race weekend. Thanks to Paul’s great preparation.

Richard found mine and Paul’s cars on Speedhunters out at Mission Raceway last weekend - someone took some nice photos here.
Paul’s vintage 69 racer got an artistic cockpit shot, but out of all the beautiful cars in the car corral, I got the honorable mention and photos in the article - very cool. Thanks to the editor of this one.
