I did drop in on Terry H a couple of weeks ago - last minute, I happened to be passing though and he answered my email just as I was leaving town - did a U turn, and visited for a couple of hours.

WHAT: First Ever Alberta All Datsun meet

WHEN: Saturday, June 4th.

DEPARTURE LOCATIONS AND TIMES:

Edmonton and Northern Alberta Departure: LEAVING AT 10:30 AM sharp from Oil Derrick at the Alberta Information Booth on Highway 2 just south of Edmonton.

Calgary and Southern Alberta Departure from LEAVING AT 10:30 AM sharp Tim Horton's / Wendy's east side of Highway 2 in Airdrie (just park along the service road that parallels Highway 2 so you don't have to plug up the parking lots there)


DETAILS:

The day will look like this:

1) Cruise from south and north to meet at Bower Place Shopping Centre (see departure times above).

2) MEET LOCATION: Arrival approximately 12:00 Noon at Bower Place Shopping Centre, northwest corner of the parking lot along Gaetz Avenue. See yellow highlighted area on map in thread below.

3) The meet at Bower Place would formally wrap up at approximately 4:00PM.

Made the Red Deer All Datsun Meet. There was approximately 36 Datsun and Nissan vehicles in attendance. Only 3 510's but there was one of each a 2 dr, 4 dr and my Wagon. I think it was a great success despite the friggin cold temperature we had to endure while checking out the cars.

There were approximately 16 cars that left from Edmonton alone. Most were Z cars, 2 Roadsters and my Wagon.

Thanks Dave for putting this event on and hope it goes again next year with even more cars.

Yep great event. Next time, there will be a next time, I hope to see more 510s out. I was surprised to only see three.

Hey, I'm glad this event took place-- even though I was out of town. But my 510 is "under the knife" now anyway and will be out of commission for probably a year, maybe more. Seems to me this is a frequent issue. Lots of us who own 510s just aren't in a position to drive them anywhere.... yet.

So thanks, Dave, for arranging this, even though the 510 turnout was low. Just knowing about the event is a motivator to keep my project moving forward. Hopefully next time it'll be driveable!

Events like these offer motivation like nothing else. There were plenty of guys who pushed hard to get their cars done for this event. Maybe you can circle June 2012 on your calendar and schedule your project to get in done in time.

Yes, I hope so, and thanks for the nudge.

I went down this road before when I restored my MG, and there are long stretches in the work when it seems you'll never get the bloody thing finished. At times like those, it's a great help to think of gatherings like this. Small step by small step-- yeah, I'll get there eventually too.

In the meantime, thanks again Dave for organizing this inaugural event.

I know it seems really early to talk about picking a date for 2012-- but on the other hand, I'm probably not the only one whose schedule fills up months ahead of time. Any chance "we"-- that is, Alberta Datsun people-- could settle on a date long in advance? June 2012 sounds like a good general goal to shoot for... Anybody got a particular day in mind? If we could settle on something now, or even in the next couple of months, we could at least pencil it in and try to keep that date free.

I'm all open to setting a date well in advance. There is a lot that goes on at that time of year to I suggest there are a few key events right around that time that should be avoided / worked around.

1. The Calgary and Edmonton Z car events
2. History Road at the Reynolds Alberta Museum
3. WCMA racing schedule (I missed the Calgary event this year!!!)

There are also tons of events that go on but we can't avoid all possible conflicts.

Maybe those in the know can put up some other events that we may want to consider
1. Three hills (or it is Two Hills) car show
2. Church on 99 fathers day car show (HUGE and getting bigger)
3. Bi-annual All British Field Meet (just this past weekend in Edmonton and I am wondering if Calgary hosts on alternate years)
