2011 Vancouver All Nissan Meet
Updated 2011-07-23
The show is a go – and a new weekend this year
August 27th and 28th.
We made the move to capture the better weather often enjoyed in August here in Vancouver.
The auto-X will again be held on Saturday the 27th , 7:30 - 8am start at the Scott Rd Skytrain Parking lot (North Delta/Surrey) as in years past. If you haven't been out for a few years, the lot was cleared of all "islands" by the city and it has made a very good venue for the club auto-X. This event has proved to be very good, even in the rain for the last two years!
The show will be held Sunday August the 28th at the Shipbuilders Square in North Vancouver. The venue is actually 4 blocks east of the Waterfront Park entrance we used to use for the past 15 or so years, still on Esplanade St, two blocks east of the Quay (where Waterfront Park was one block west of the Quay). We’ll print signs this year to mark the entry to the event, as it will be off of St. Georges Ave to the south.
We are looking for some organizers right now to help out, people to pitch in and help out on the show day. Spots to be filled are a few people to direct cars to their parking spots, a few people for registration and a few people to help with the ballot counting and awards. The current team is doing all the nuts and bolts of getting the show set up and rolling, we just really need people to pitch in on the day of the event. Right now we have a skeleton team of about 4 people, spreading the work out on the day of the event would make it more manageable for sure.
Terry Stashuk, Rod Lovelett, Brian Peters and I had a very good organizational meeting with a city staff member, Sandra Dunn, at the site. Sandra has been very helpful and very accommodating. The new venue is all paved – in fact it's concrete. We have a covered stage and small concert bowl area and we even have use of the entire jetty (where you’ll see the tall ships this year), and we have been given permission to put cars on it if we choose. This will be weather dependant, but if it's a clear hot August day, that would be the place to be. If you are on the organizational team, you can help make that call! The new venue will work very well, and I am really quite excited about the show.
Brian Peters has been building a web page off of the old BC Z registry site for the host, Westcoast Datsun Car Club. Obviously this thread will consistently be updated here on. I’m sure VIDE will also have a thread, we’ll post the link soon.
I hope to see you all there, and please spread the word over the summer, as we have room for about 150-200 cars, about 50 more more if we use the jetty. We will make use of the media to spread the word, and we look forward to building a great event.
I look forward to all of your input, please stay in touch.

PARTICAPENTS AGENDA
To facilitate a smooth start to the day, please read and follow the steps in order that they are listed to complete tech and registration
1. SIGN THE WAIVER -You should have already done this: Before anyone can come onto the event lot, they must sign the waiver and be given a wrist band at the main gate. Regardless of their role as a driver or spectator, EVERYONE must sign the appropriate waiver (participant or non-participant) at the gate before entering the premises. If you have not signed, please return to the main gate, if you are found not wearing a wrist band you will be asked to leave the premises - sorry.
2. PARK YOUR CAR -Please park in an orderly fashion in the east lot, starting at the North-east end, and please make efficient use of the limited space. Empty your vehicle of all loose items, in preparation for tech inspection. This includes unsecured spare tire/jack and all floor mats on the driver’s side.
3. TECH YOUR CAR -You will be signing off on your own vehicle for tech inspection. Refer to the tech sheet included with this package. Once you have filled out the Autocross Technical Self Declaration Form and completed your tech inspection, have a tech inspector sign and apply a decal to your form, car and helmet if you brought a personal one to use. Tech will be located at the north east corner of the lot – closest to Home Depot. TECH CLOSES AT 8:30
4. REGISTER - Present your form with payment (if you have not prepaid) to the registration table at the main gate on the north side of the lot where you entered.
5. WALK THE COURSE -You will receive a course map after registration. Please familiarize yourself with the course by walking the lot.
6. DRIVER’S MEETING -8:45am. Mandatory for everyone participating.
Tech will be closing at 8:30am.
Other important information
WORKER STATIONS -Throughout the day, you will be required to work the course at one of the flagging stations, this will be explained at the drivers meeting, failure to work in your assigned run group will result in elimination of you next run, so please pay attention to your assigned run group and work group so your day will run smooth.
We do not have paid course workers. Everyone who works today is a volunteer. Please remember that there were people working the course while you were racing, so please return the favor. We simply can not run the race without workers. Thanks!
A COUPLE OF CAUTIONS TO REMEMBER:
Timing equipment:
The timing equipment is housed in heavy metal boxes at both the start and finish of the course, these are heavy, will also cause great damage to your car (has been proven a few times) and any person hitting this equipment becomes liable for the repair or replacement costs. Don’t hit the timers. Doing so will not only damage your car, but will end the day for everyone! Also, do not touch or tamper with the equipment at any time. It is difficult equipment to set up, and needs to be aligned. Do not move unless instructed directly by an official. Thanks!
*YOUR CONDUCT AT THIS EVENT*
Your conduct at, and around the event directly reflects on everyone, and the organizing clubs involved. We are at the mercy of the city and Translink for graciously letting us use this lot. Please protect that by showing vast courtesy and respect to anyone coming to and going from the Skytrain facility. It is a public area, and is to be treated as such. If we do not respect it, we will not be given the chance to use this facility in the future. So please keep you speed down at all times while in sight of the facility – 10 Km/H in all parts of the lot, including access roads. Failure to comply with this will lead to your exclusion from the event. Please take care.
If you have any question, please ask anyone involved with the organization.
Please take all garbage home with you; we don’t have people to do this!
Enjoy your day, and we’ll see you the following day in North Vancouver at the Shipbuilders Square for the Show’n Shine.
