Ok, we have decided to cancel the drive, shooting for the 15/16, or, the weekend after that.

It just looks to be crummy overnight, after looking at the noon weather, and the roads will not dry on most of those sections that we would see early in the morning. This way we can all at least get on with planning our Sunday. Out my window at the moment, the sky is socked in over the Cascades, and it is raining over the Gulf islands at the moment, with the wind heading due east.

This may also allow some of our regular drivers to come along, who could not make this one.

I'm feeling pretty wiped out this weekend so I'll probably pass on the cruise this time. Still looks like rain to me anyways.

Jeez, I thought it was looking up!

Tonight I see stars here in New West. It's just before midnight - just getting home from a trip down to Rich's to pick up an L16 Motor/trans set up.

I may go for a drive tomorrow anyways, the 1mm of rain that was predicted yesterday is even gone now - just variable cloudiness for the day - or maybe take the time to work on this motor I just picked up. Either way, I'll go for a bit of drive unless it does get wet.

Had a good 510 day today :D

Morning Gang,

I hope everyone saw the cancellation, looks like I may have jumped the gun too early...oh well. I just felt that if we are going to go, might as well be spectacular weather. We have lucked out most drives, one way or another.

7:00 A.M. edit:

Crud...As I look out my window now.....bloody weatherman....looks to be a nice morning. I feel bad.......

We'll stay tuned on the new date.

Since the weather was good in the am, I took to opportunity to get out to the shop, clean up from the dump of parts and tools from my trip down south last night, and took my 2 year old son for a cruise in the Bronze.

Because I need to adjust the seat belt so short to get the his car seat in, I dug out another 68 chrome buckle lap belt and hooked it into the same mounting eye on the outboard side. Now the car has a long and a short lap belt in the car at all times. My daughter had her slightly larger car seat in there for our trip to Canby. These seats are pretty hi-tech these days, with Styrofoam side impact zones close to their heads to stop any lateral flailing around. There is also the 5 point belt - in any kind of collision I think the kids in these seats (properly secured to the car) are in a way better position than we are, even in my 4 point harness (I've never cut the seat up for the crotch/ anti submarine belt...)

I wasn't sure how my son would take the noise of the Bronze - I couldn't get him to wear the kids ear muffs, so I took a bunch of short trips with breaks to various parks and play grounds through the day. Stayed off the highway, except for a little short sqirt at one point. The second last stop of the day was at a friend’s house at a hobby farm, where the little guy spent two hours chasing ducks, chickens and a turkey, throwing a ball for the dogs, ect - needless to say, during the hour long drive back home - he was out like a light. Didn't take a photo of him strapped into the 510 though - Damn - I thought about it after I woke him up.

Had a good day driving the 510 with my son just the same.

Keep us up to date on the new date Bert.

Well, the weatherman sure got me on that one! Turned out to be a good day. I ended up cleaning my gutters out, then going for a ripp'in bike ride with Matt, late in the afternoon.

Our 1st alternate weekend will be the 15th or 16th of October. I will be hosting the meeting at my place of work, Saturday, the 15th one way or another.

I took my son for his first ride around the age of two, he has since referred to the 510 as "Dada VRROOOM!!!!"

It would be nice if some of our American enthusiasts could make the drive! I think Goichi is going to try to hook up with us.
