JCCS was very cool,
The group from Phoenix stayed at the same hotel I was at. They were a nice group. I also met Monte (510 wizard) very laid back and cool.

As this was my first Japanese car show of any type it was a great experience. I was really curious to see how everyone else does it. One thing I learned is that is that the SR20DET is truly the SBC of the Datsun world.

I will say this about the show to. I had this chick behind us with her 510 that kept saying nasty things about me and my dad because we set up a quickshade. Just being a real bitch attitude about it that i did not respect. Im disabled, im on medication, i cant sit in direct sunlight for to long on my meds and need the shade, and others are setting up quickshades, i mostly had it over my car as you can see in pics, and barley back, but she made a nasty comment about us almost hitting her 510...yah like id really hit antoher 510, ive been showing and doing 510's longer than this lady has probally seen a dime, and shes older than me, i would hit MY car before i would of hit hers.. People like her need to stay away from car shows.

I was hoping you'd rock blue with the coupe grille.
Lol i was tempted. I had fun at the show, but i was told by dave (owner of the red stock 510 like arts, and he had the butterscotch 510 at the show this year thats a nice restored dime) that the judging is VERY biased, and you know what....it was, were discussing it on ratsun as well, the judging has ruined me coming and making another 16 hour trip down next year. Great show, great people, but some of the judges need to learn their stuff, not one stock 510 there (there was 5) me, dave, the white 510 next to me that was the cross country 510, the 68 stocker, and the barn find 510, only ones that places anything were modified dimes, and me and dave NEVER even saw the judges come around our cars, kind of killed it for me. But i met alot of people from the boards and got to put names/faces with user names, which is always a plus. I finally got to come after 8 years of wanting to come, so its out of my system. At least i found out by going to that shasta is rebooting next year :), even if only for datsuns age 68-73 and nothing else.

But Art drove great down there, only issue i had was my diode going out in the alternator, already have a new one ordered. But art cruised at 75-80 mph everywhere but the grapevine, which i had to take at 45 at 195 degrees. Otherwise most of the trip i was around 185-190 in temp on a stock 2 core crusing 80 mph (as most know art never went over 65 due to tranny whine) well i fixed the tranny whine issues, and she cruises at 75 perfect. I do plan on looking for a stock nissan 3 core rad, or upgrading the radiator, keeping her stock tanks, but having a 3 core done to prevent any possiblities of over heating in the future on long trips, because even with a 160 thermostat instead of the 180, she still runs over 180 LOL. I felt bad she went through the rain on the way home.

It was a great pleasure to meet up with Bike Papa, danfiveten , his dad and the guy who drove the stock white 510 from PA ( I am sure that will be a memory of a life time) On the show, why where all the cars of the same marque scattered all over the grounds? Zcars at the front gate and at the back of the show? It seemed to me that when the show was at Irvine, it was a lot better organized.

Danfiveten tell us more about the new Shasta, who is putting it on?

195° ain't really worrying, especially considering the grade and length of grade of the Grapevine. And 180° is a bit chilly for an L-series.

roadster group is putting it on. its now for all cars 68-73 datsuns. Apparently the city missed the income from the show, so their closing a city street for the show, so supposebly it will be downtown from what ive read, this was the first year, only not really anyone knew cuz no one knew to look for info about shasta.

The same Roadster group that helped cause the split with 510s in the first place, giving rise to the Shasta we all knew and loved? Ironic, if so.

So, just basically a show, not really like the old Shasta then. What was cool about Shasta was all the events, ( car show, driving events, swap meet, dinners, car parts identification quizzes, etc.
