Re: Octoberfast 2013 - Saturday Oct 12
Agreed James, it was a very good day. Thanks again Keith.
But I have to put a little disclaimer in here. I talked to Keith yesterday, and I have to admit I pushed a little harder for the event to go today as I would not be able to make it next weekend. So maybe I need to offer to help clean some cars….
The day started out early, cold and dark. Although the day did get later and lighter….the Bronze stayed every so COLD!
What a dumb ass I am for thinking that saving the 20 lbs worth of heater core was a good idea – note to all who will listen – keep the bloody heater in your car!
However, the drive was good. I took the lead a few times today – I felt the desire to stretch the Bronze’s legs a bit, when the opportunity lent itself and the road conditions were favorable. With only 140 HP hitting the road (maybe), it doesn’t say a lot, but it sure sounds good, and feels good.
The stop at the Logan Lake Mine tailings pond is a bit surreal, kind of looks like the moon to me – only there’s unnaturally green water. And as James said, there was the odd slightly frozen rain/snowish precipitation falling here, thank god no one decided to salt yet!
The blast from Merritt to Spence’s Bridge is always an enjoyable piece of road, too bad it’s only 30 kms long. But it’s a fun 30 k! Jordan kept me company on this stretch, We got a little away from the pack here with a good break in traffic. Also saw a number of horses on the road in one spot, got chased by a rather optimistic dog – it’s all good. Heart rate got up a little, helped warm me up some. And thankfully this enjoyable piece of road was dry. The Bronze did great.
And the trip back down the Fraser Canyon was also enjoyable with fairly light traffic for so late in the day. No serious hold ups. I noticed Jordon got completely cut off by a rather aggressive slow driver, unfortunately there was a long distance before the next passing lane and I didn’t see you again. I was also the recipient of such a hear maneuver, but these things happen. What can you do.
But, it was an enjoyable day. A spent some time washing the car again at my shop just before getting home. It was dark, so I’ll see how well I did in the morning.
Some photos to follow.
Happy Thanksgiving guys. Hope your turkey weekend goes well.

Re: Octoberfast 2013 - Saturday Oct 12
I want to thank everyone for allowing me to tag along.
As Keith says " Get a few shakedown miles". I had a hoot
Driving my new toy. Although, sometimes a little uncomfortable
with some of the turns. In the end I managed.
I am sure there will be more pics coming. Here are a few I took.
Thanks again to everyone!

Wow, I'm beat, what a grand day! I have to say Leonard's old car performed really well, I haven't been able to go up hills like that before! Thanks Keith, that was a blast, good thing we went, I have the feeling we are getting early snow this year, we may not get a chance into the interior like that for awhile!

Awesome day! = First and second gear rubber, beautiful scenery, running on empty heading into Merritt, lunch, go-pro footage, donut in parking area, passing Keith!!! {only to be killed seconds later with a shot of boost to the head… lol}, spending the day with a bunch of great guys, and lastly hearing the 44s sing at speed!!! Thanks guys… Cheers

Re: Octoberfast 2013 - Saturday Oct 12
Thank you everyone for another fun day! I do have to thank James for following me through the tunnels and into Yale. As I drove through Boston Bar I glanced at my fuel gauge, ya no problem I thought. I can make it to Hope for gas.Just before we got near all the tunnels the gauge was nearing E,oh oh. I had visions of running out of gas in a tunnel! Luckily,I made it to Yale with James pulling in right behind me,Whew! After gassing up James said that there was a yard sale up ahead. We decided to cruise by slowly just in case there was some Datsun parts,ha ha ha! Anyway, thanks to Keith, and the rest of the crew for another enjoyable and at times exciting time (horses and dogs) . Ya Byron, that tailings pond definitely makes you wonder what the hell is in there. Take care everyone and enjoy time with your families on Thaksgiving. Cheers,Ron. Also a big thanks to Isabel for letting me go on our Anniversary! Love you Honey!
Re: Octoberfast 2013 - Saturday Oct 12
Happy Anniversary Ron and Isabel! Andrew and I where wondering what happened to you guys!
