Just watched Wouter's runs on the utoob....wonder what he has for a tranny in there & what he had for tires? Looks like there is more time in the car.

IF I ever go back it would certainly be the ice racer not Blue, too much barrier now :(

Wouter switched from his road race Michelins to a DOT race tire, like Campbell and the guys use.

I can only imagine what they would be like on my car, way stickier than anything we had. Avon's were unobtanium in terms of price in the 90's, at least for me.

Wouter sure has come a long way with this car.

Back in the 90's, I helped Wouter in the odd dirt track and mini stock classes that he ran - both cars were 510's and Wouter still has a soft spot for them. He bought this car in the late 90's, I was crew chief for him on a number of Molson Indy races here in Vancouver in this car, and it's been an evolution of speed ever since.

Good job Wouter.

Well well, my search of my old '82 Knox pictures was a success. Keith, hope this tickles your fancy. I especially like the last one ;)

Oh Wow...that is beyond cool!!!!! Thanks so much.

That is me, in the T shirt on the passenger side of the car, and the fellow I am talking to is Dave Barry, who destroyed his 510 in Turn 5.

That car is in 4 x 4 mode, was it ever tall. I can see that I still had that silly rear ant-roll bar on also, as we pitched that in 1984 when we got the whole spring rate thing sorted out.

The Formula Super V car was Keith Gray's, very fast indeed. did a 1:51 in 1982.

Conrad Pistner was there that year also, in his convertible turbo 510

hahaha, beige/butterscotch Adidas sports bag.

Keith, what happened to Conrad Pistner's car? did it end up at Westwood ever?

The roll bar I bought from Greg Mostardi came out of a no-roof 510 race car. That bar ended up in the green car I sold to Bob Boyer, which became the Purple V8 car that Stretch and Mitch now have.

Is that possibly the same roll bar, 33 years later?

I don't know what happened to Conrad's car. Conrad lives not far from me, I should try to get a hold of him.

I ran into Bob at Turn 9, we had a really nice chat, he is doing well and has some plans for some cars he has or maybe getting. Something very cool too!

These pictures are all a time machine of that period...You can see my hood prop leaning on my bag, I still use that to this day, same with that yellow topped funnel, I use that for my auxiliary tank. I still have my paper thin driving suit around somewhere, then I used to fit into Tracey's suit. Their safety standards were pretty loose then. I wore leather moccasins for my driving shoes.

That would be neat if it was the same bar.

When my 72' got wrecked, I took the roll bar out ( made by Green's Automotive ) and jacked it into my 73'. Was that ever a tight fit, I was worried I might distort the bar so much that it would not spring back.

Man... is this bringing back some memories. I loved the early 80's.... can't remember much of it though. Those were the wild Party daze of BCMA. Saturday night's at Confetti's, New Wave and Punk Rock, The " Green " Camaro, " Nuclear Ice Tea's with waaaayyyyy too much Tequila and partying with the Greenwoods till 5:00 AM every weekend. The last part is probably why I don't remember much of the early 80's...

Was some pretty freakin' good times though...

Jackie and Roger's blender drinks...Yikes.....

Repairing air dams in the motel room and Campbell arriving at 2:00 Am and asking how his car made out on the trip up....

how did we ever manage to race the next day......

Oh..do I have a picture for you.....stay tuned.....

I've told people that early on I got infected with the turbo bug and I never recovered. The same year this picture was taken the fellow standing to the right of the 510 (Peter Pistner) took me for a ride in his turbo 510. The very next night I drove over to his house with a handful of cash and bought a used turbo system for my own 510. Since then I have NEVER been without a turbo car.

While in the garage of these two brothers Peter and Conrad I got to see the red convertible race car and hear about Knox hill climb. I went and spectated then subsequently ran my own 510 but only for a couple years.

Conrad's other red 510 in the background was the tow vehicle for the convertible 510 which he flat towed to race events. He devised an ingenious brake controller for the race car in order to meet towing requirements, and he was "off to the races" so to say.

Start at 4:40 to see Conrads convertible 510 in motion. Note the trunk lid,

Keith, do you know if the fellow in the right side of the above picture is Tim Chairman? I recall he had a brown turbo'd civic.

No, that is Dave Barry. Dave tried super-charging his 510 when we were at Boundry Bay, but never had real success with it. I drove it once, the only time it actually ran well. It could have been awesome, as the bottom end torque was perfect for Solo. Dave was on a budget so never had the money to do it right. Then, at Knox, he wrote the 510 off.

I remember the Civic.

Peter and his brother were in Electrical Engineering if I remember correctly.
The convertible came about at one of the U.B.C. slaloms, where, on the most simple corner, the stock 510 just kinda jacked itself up, at stupidly slow speed, then just rolled over.
