I think the busy border was because the Toronto Bluejays were playing in Seattle this weekend.

I am of the opinion you guys should go somewhere else.....on a Sunday.
But that's just me being selfish

Re: First summer drive to Fort Casey, via Chuckanut drive
Ok, so would everyone want to go on Sunday, mid weekend?
Or, should we defer the U.S. trip till maybe September and go for a buzz somewhere in B.C.?
Being it is the middle of summer, it is going to be busy on our return no matter where we go, so it's just a case of picking the most reasonable route.
Thoughts?

Saturday is 100% for me. Sunday is 50/50 at the moment. I'm up for going anywhere.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

It was the Jays game for sure, not being a stick and ball sport guy I had no idea.
I dunno, what do you guys want to do? Steve at Andy's birthday yesterday was telling me how cool the Fort is, lots to see. So, if we did go early across the Border, and do Chukanut before it gets busy, or whatever, then have Breakfast in Oak Harbour, then go see the Fort with some time on our hands, then head back early afternoon to miss the afternoon rush?
Or, push that off till September, miss the tourist traffic, and do something on Sunday, to include Dean and whoever else. Question is, where to truck off to.
Ideas.
or, just plain pass, on our B.C. Long weekend.

Re: First summer drive to Fort Casey, via Chuckanut drive
I'd like to see the Fort. If we go early enough ( 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM at the Border ) the traffic shouldn't be that bad. I doubt many are going cross border shopping with the exchange rate. Once we get past the Border all should be good. Better than locally I would think, as most people will be staying on the BC side.
If we put it off again, the long range forecasts are for rain and thunderstorms on the weekend till Aug 29th. Now you're into September and the possibility of rain increases.
Lets just do it...

I'll follow what ever you guys decide.
Thanks for thinking of me Keith but I seriously don't expect anyone to arrange a schedule around my inability to do Saturday's.
A little different route but Paul Allen's aviation collection and the Boeing factory is pretty epic if no one has seen it.

I can do either day now and where we go matters not to me. I just need to know when and where to meet up with you guys, squeaky brakes and I will be there.

Morning Gang,
So, if I read this right, if we do SUNDAY, Norm, Dean, Richard and I can make it, right? Anybody else?

Re: First summer drive to Fort Casey, via Chuckanut drive
Ok Gang, sounds good....2-510's and 2 of those other swoopy nosed things. James can't make it as he is off to a nice, brother get together and motorcycle road trip up in George.
I think, based on past Border experience, and just plain summer traffic, that we should meet at the Campbell Valley Store @ 5:30 and try to get across the Border before 6:00 AM.. It is going to take as a bit of TIME to drive to the start of Chukanut, maybe a photo op, etc, then head on down and over to Widbey Island and then down to the Fort. It opens at 8:00 so we are good for that. Bring some us dollars of course because there is a parking fee and we will maybe grab brunch/lunch somewhere too, like we did in Pemberton. There is a cool lighthouse there to look at. We will just make the morning a drive and explore, then re-trace our steps I think back to Bellingham and head back to the Border before it gets silly busy in the afternoon.
Sound good?!
