OCTOBERFAST 2015

I'm going to start this thread now, to get you thinking of a final fall drive for the season. There were a few ideas thrown about yesterday at the car show, again trying to fit in peoples schedules, etc. It is just too hard to try to get everyone fit in, so, we will just throw it out as usual. If you have to rescue a car out of somewhere with a time factor, maybe get it the night before and hide it somewhere else (Mike), as we will still try to have our early starts as the day does go by and there still can be some traffic.

I am maybe just thinking of keeping it relatively simple, a nice drive up to the Lookout in Manning and down to the Lake for a photo op if we can, maybe have lunch in the restaurant. Fall colours might be early this year. Or, we do a bigger loop if it is spectacular weather, as we have had some very nice drives into the aspen tree areas. They paved the rough section along the top of the Hope slide to rhododendron flats and it is billiard ball smooth, very nice.

This will be at the end of September'ish or into October, keeping the weather issue foremost.

It will be the big Island. I can put you in a room with my 1 and 3 year olds. You can be the baby sitter while we go to beach. I've never been to Maui or Oahu. The big Island and Kauai are more my speed.

Hey Lou,

That was a fun day! I'm hoping to go camping up in Manning in the next few weeks in my Boler. Nothing like fall camping. I was up there in July and the spotter planes were going up and down the valley 3 times a day, keeping an eye out for fire(s). Crazy how dry it was.

If you guys go on the 25/26th weekend in September I would be able to get to the mainland. I won't be in a 510 I'm afraid, but I'm having fun in the 79 280 zx I'm currently flogging.

If Norm decides to take us all to Hawaii I'll figure out how to get a Saturday off.

Thanks for doing this Norm, I too will start packing, and change the thread to: NORM TAKES US TO MAUI.

Ron and I will share a Mustang convertible if that is ok, and we can do that cool paved road on the backside of Maui, get our drive in that way.
