2015 Sea to Sky Thanksgiving Run

Post by owdlvr »

It's that time of year again! Our Annual Thanksgiving run to finish off the driving season.

Image

Event Details: http://www.classiccaradventures.com/bc- ... o-sky-run/

What: A casual cruise and meetup with fellow classic car owners of all pre-’79 classic cars and trucks, '80s and '90s RetroCars (soon to be classics), and vehicles of distinction.

Drive the best part of the Sea-to-Sky Highway on a quiet holiday morning, and enjoy the company of classic car nuts before you have to head off to the in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner! We plan it so that you can be back home by midday. Some of you might have done a Sea to Sky run recently with your various car clubs, but its always fun to mix all the marques together and meet new people. And really, who can say no to the beautiful views and winding turns past ocean and mountains – especially on a holiday!

When: Thanksgiving Monday, October 12th: 8:00-11:30am. We'll begin meeting at 8:00am, and depart at 8:30am.

Where: The Thanksgiving run will meet in North Vancouver at Capilano University, parking lot 4. The lot is located at the North end of Campus. The Run will then travel North on Hwy 99, to the Sea to Sky Gondola, south of Squamish. Here we have a large parking lot reserved for the group, with a much larger coffee shop ready to handle a mass of hungry classic car owners!

What to Bring: Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the Squamish Food Bank. We'll collect those goods up in Squamish at the finish.

Additional Information: The Sea to Sky Gondola is offering 10% off for anyone in our group who wishes to travel up the Gondola. Great views, a restaurant, suspension bridge and breath-taking patios await those who head to the top. The lower base, for those wishing to stay with the cars, features a coffee and pastry shop (with Galileo coffee), washrooms and of course our collection of Classic Cars! Visit http://www.seatoskygondola.com for more information on our new finish facilities.

This is a great show / cruise and I've been going to it for the last few years - rain or shine!
Here's a bunch of pics from last year - excellent mix of cars!

I'm going to pass, I want to get my 510 cleaned up and put away sometime next week. Would be fun but I've had a good run this past summer with some good drives with all you guys!

Just watch out for the speed zone at Lions Bay.

I took part in Monday’s Thanksgiving cruise. Aside from the quite wet day, it was enjoyable. It was very surprising to find over 50 cars at the meeting point at Capilano University. About 35 made the drive up the Sea to Sky to Squamish.

I nice day it was not, especially in the morning. All air cooled cars and most of the convertible were fogged right in. I passes a very nice example of a Lotus 7, the owner talked to me later in the mooring over a coffee that when I passes him, he was quite envious of all the clear windows in my little 510. It was true that I was toasty warm, but even getting in wet, Ole Blue had a bit of a hard time keeping those windows clear for the first 15 minutes.

The drive up was WET! My skinny tires were likely the only thing keeping me from floating away. Not a good day for the A048's!

I always love a Mini, even when it wears Austin badges. But I did help push start the car - fine Lucas material doesn’t like water, and would not charge.

Byron,
Who owns that Red Quattro? Is it a member on this board?

No, in fact I have never seen that specific car before. It is an unusual burgundy opposed to the brighter red ones I have seen around.

Damns... I love the Quattro. Something about bubble flares.

The gordini is Paul Silva's car I presume.

Looks like a lot of fun... although it rained.

Gordini was indeed Paul's car. The Quattro is owned by a new (too CCA stuff) gentleman named Alan. He's owned it for 20+ years I believe.

Hmmm...wonder if you realize this would totally be admissible to CCA events like the Fall Classic and Spring Thaw under the "Delorean Rule"?
