2016 All Japanese Classic - SOLD OUT!!! - August 28th - Waterfront Park

Post by Byron510 »

2016 All Japanese Classic - August 28th - Waterfront Park

We are back, and this year more inclusive than ever.
Late last year Richard and I have decided to combine the All Japanese Car Show and the All Nissan Meet moving forward to create the All Japanese Classic. This combines the greater field of Classic Japanese cars with a venue that much better suits the event.

I’d like to welcome the Annual All Japanese Classic show back to Waterfront Park in North Vancouver, a beautiful and well situated setting. It’s easy to find, has many facilities and a stunning view across the Burrard Inlet with the downtown City of Vancouver as the backdrop on the other side of the harbor. Shopping and food aplenty can be had right next door at the Lonsdale Quay, as is access from the Seabus. Many of you will recall that the All Nissan Meet was held at this location from 1998 to 2011. We are happy to be back on the grass and in a venue that will hold a significantly greater number of cars.

All Japanese Classic Program

Gates open - 8am
People Choice Ballots - Completed by 12 noon
Trophies/Awards - Presented at 2pm
Roll out to follow awards ceremony
Park Closes - 5pm

Waterfront Park is located at;
265 W. Esplanade, North Vancouver BC V7M 1A5

Pre-Registration is Now Open
http://alljapaneseclassic.com/#!store/759666355

$5 off registration for the month of May. We are limited to 200 cars, and judging by the initial response we are likely to reach this goal. The feedback already much greater than expected and Pre-Registration is already rolling in.

Check out the discussion on the All Japanese Classic Facebook page which has been going for a few months now, getting the show all ready to roll out.

https://www.facebook.com/AllJapaneseClassic/

On the event day, and due to the one way road with a blind corner access into the park on the Spirit Trail (around the south end of the BCIT Marine Campus), early departures MUST be cleared with an official event organizer prior to moving your car out of the show area AND you must have an escort the whole way out of the park due to safety concerns. The city has requested this of us, we must comply as these are conditions of the park use. Event organizers will be easy to spot, we’ll be wearing bright shirts - James promises us we will stand out. And we have radios which is key. Departures will be allowed on the hour only.

We have a few members here from the Realm on board to assist the show, Richard and I would like to thank Cam, James, Susan, Aron, Rob, Sean and Gaelen. We are looking for more volunteers to make this show go smoothly on the day. Due to the number of classes, we may need somewhere between 8 – 12 parking attendants, a few registration attendants, and a few front gate personnel. If you can assist, please contact me. At minimum you’ll get an event shirt out of it!

We really look forward to this event this year, and to our first All Japanese Car Show which we have big hopes for in the future.

UPDATE: August 2016

Wow, what can we say - sold out! We had to close entry as we have surpassed 200 cars! When we first talked about building up the ANM by combining it with the Spring All Japanese Car show to build the All Japanese Classic in the summer date, we thought we'd have 68-80 cars. We felt if we hit 100, we'd be doing well. As of last Sunday we hit just shy of 200 cars, and we feel the park space we rented just can't hold more. To that end we have stopped taking in registrations and won’t be able to take any more at the gate. What an amazing response.
For 2017, we have the ability to expand into a field next door which is also park land. However there is no entry onto the field, unless you have the ground clearance to climb a curb. The city has informed us that we can use that part of the park to the north, but this permit needs to be in place in the first quarter of the year, too late for this year’s event. Next year we will expand the field area by 60%, and staging will be built to gain access. The plan is in place, but that's for next year.

Please do come by and enjoy the show. There is some parking to the west of the BCIT Marine Institute. We feel there will be a little show of its own in that parking lot as this is where we have had turn a number of entries.
Again, thank you for the support for those attending, we look forward to a great show.

13 people signed up and paid yesterday in our opening day for per-registration, that's just awesome. In the next few months I am confident we will absolutely fill this park with cool Japanese cars.
Pre-Reg is not mandatory - if you choose to pay at the gate, of course we'll make room for ya Mike. However per-registration for the event as a whole gives us as organizers an idea of who is coming, and more importantly what and how many of each car/class will be attending? We need this for awards, so the per-registration really helps us.

Talked to Richard tonight, compared notes. We are up to 34 entries. Justin added 13 first Gen Hondas today, putting the Honda population say ear of the Nissan/Toyota race which was neck n neck...
But after one week, we are pleasantly surprised at how many are taking advantage of the early bird discount and signing up. For us organizers, it just makes the classes and trophies much easier from an organizational point of view. We have a couple trucks entered, if we get enough we will enter those into a glass of their own, mods we can only do ahead of time through this pre registration.

We'll keep you posted.l, and updated on the show itself.

Most times paypal offers you an option to pay with a credit card if you don't have a PayPal account.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

First thing..I would like to say thanks to all that have offered to pay on Paypal for me! That just says what a great group of people we have on here!!!!!!!

Now, I have finally upgraded from Windows95..where even the young tech guy did not know what Windows95 was. He put the phone down after saying he would get the old janitor to come and see if he knew what I was talking about. In about 5 minutes I could hear shuffling and finally an old croaky voice came on...he lit up when I said I needed to upgrade from Windows95, so I could use PAYPAL. He asked what is PAYPAL? I said it is some new fangled way to pay for things online safely. He had a hard time grasping that, as he says he only uses cash. I said I do too and we talked about that for 1/2 an hour. So, between the janitor relaying to the tech guy, that maybe Window95 had finally expired and this guy in Vancouver needs to step it up a bit and join the modern world, I actually now have some sort of new program that keeps telling me I need to upgrade to Windows 10...HUH!!?? How did we go from 95 back to 10? It says it is free, but, I just did an upgrade, so I could use my new Paypal account.

The young tech guy finally hung up on me when he asked for my cell phone number and I said I did not have one.....
