Fort Casey Drive 2016

Post by bertvorgon »

Is anybody interested or able to go to Fort Casey this weekend, should the weather be good?

I can't make it this weekend. I have Stanley Burke's funeral and then we are celebrating my son's 4th birthday the day after. I am free next weekend though. Andy played with my carbs when it was in a couple of weeks ago and she is running better than ever.

I enjoyed a drive last weekend, and the Bronze is insured but I have family commitments both days this weekend Bert. I'll make it to Ft. Casey eventually :-).
Dean had his gorgous 260Z at last Sunday's RX Autowerks show and found me on the site, he was aware of the drive and might chime in.

I could do either weekend, either day.
Was great to see some Datsun representation at the RX thing last weekend.

How about we plan for the weekend of July 23/24th, gives people time to plan and weather is still iffy for this coming weekend.

After that I am done till well into the end of August due to wilderness hikes and camping.

If you want to have a really slow and boring drive down, we could leave at "humane time", but, the Chukanut Drive needs to be done early, specially now that we are in summer mode. So, that being said we would cross the Border at 5:30 AM and hopefully have a good uninterrupted drive down..

To come back we would head, or at least those that would go this way, back up the old Hwy 99 route to either Sumas or Aldergrove crossing.

I'm getting coffee before I go anywhere this time. Holy crap i can't believe how early it is works for me. We get the road to ourselves. It was fantastic last year With no cars around.

Yah, early was good, that was a great drive, we should be so lucky again.

Weather issue aside, I would like a sense of who may join the drive next weekend. I need to do a few prep things to my car and it would be nice to know if we have more than two or three cars. I'm easy either day but leaning to Sunday.

Realistically...... I just can't get up that early, or drive for that length of time anymore. I'm going to have to reluctantly pass....
