Fort Casey drive 2017

Thanks for taking the initiative Keith, looking at the map maybe if I can make a suggestion to stick to the coast along Bayview Edison Rd? Anyone been this route? Thinking it may be a bit more scenic? But then again there are the long straightaways along the Chuckanut route too... Thoughts?

I think that is a good idea! I have consulted my Military maps, wind charts, GPS settings, my Astrologer, and I think that looks like a good route. At that time of the morning it should be a nice cruise.

On the way back, we will use a different route than #20 to get BACK to #20.

The straightaways are just that....and really just a cruise over the prairie there.

Morning World,

We are a week away from our potential Drive to Fort Casey, weather permitting but so far it looks good.

Our Route will be to cross the Border at the truck crossing, then follow I-5 down to exit #250, where we will get onto Hwy#11, the Old Fairhaven Parkway, which then turns into the Chuckanut drive.

We will run down the Chuckanut and as we get out onto the flat, we will make a RIGHT turn onto: West Bow Hill Road. Here we will stop for a minute to re-group!

Following that will have us making another RIGHT turn onto: Bay View Edison Road, which will follow a more scenic route to Hwy #20, where we make another RIGHT turn. We follow #20 till Sharpes Corner.

Hwy #20 does a LEFT turn at Sharpes Corner, we then head due South, through Oak Harbour and past the air base, to the RIGHT turn that goes out to the ferry and Fort Casey. We can stop at the Deception Pass Bridge for a photo op and re-group also.

Time to leave has us going LEFT out of Fort Casey, S.ENGLE ROAD, on a more direct route back to Hwy#20.

We will follow HWY #20 back to Sedro Woolley, then LEFT up Hwy#9 all the way back to the Junction of #539, where I will go LEFT to head to the Aldergrove Border crossing, or those that want to hit the #1 can follow #9 to the Sumas Crossing.

I did this whole trip on one tank of fuel last time, it is approx. 90-100 miles one way, from the Blaine crossing. We can decide if we want to stop for something to eat in Oak Harbour. Bring a snack or something for the Fort as we will be there for a few hours no problem.

Full tank of fuel to start
Snack, we will decide on breakfast in Oak Harbour. See what or if we do lunch down there in Sedro Woolly or just book it back over the Border.

I got the car cleaned and everything ready to go today. I think this will be close to the last bit of driving on these tires. There is not a lot of life left in them. I'll be filling up in West Van tonight to be ready to head out tomorrow morning.
