I always carry an infrared gun to check temps, $25 is cheap for something that can diagnose a lot of problems.
Even though it is in the 90's here at Lake Chelan, it is cool in the early mornings, will be a lot cooler in Winthrop. Lots of smoke here, a fire just started mid lake on Wednesday and the smoke is blowing north, right into the Methow Valley. Stupid hikers started it. I woke at 12:30 am and saw the glow 15 miles from here and panicked, thinking it was close, so I started all my irrigation and prepared. Then I drove to a view point and could not see it from anywhere nearby, so I headed home. Got back and I could still see the glow, so I went to bed and woke up at 3am and looked and the glow was gone! Woke at 6 am and smoke was shooting up. The Forest service says they will let it burn, so lots of smoke from here to snowfall. The winds will shift and the smoke will come down lake at some point. Can't wait!

We have had the same issue here with a few of our fires...stupid hikers and smokers, plus crazy campers that still have fires even though there is a ban.

They did catch a guy the other day throwing a cig out the window...575.00 fine!

Weather is still good so this is the "official" we are going post!

Should be a really nice drive and not too hot for the trip back, looks to be in the low 20C's in Winthrop.

Do not forget PASSPORT and maybe some U.S. cash. I'm still such a dinosaur. We will have lunch in Winthrop, by the time we stop for some photos etc, it will be close to the time.

Looking good for tomorrow, slight smoke haze in the valley but really nice other than that.

Ron was lifting/moving some concrete...'nough said.....

Will you need fuel I guess in Sedro Woolly?

We will take EXIT #232 and LEFt onto Cook road, which takes us to an Arco station at the start of Hwy#20, which then is 127 ( 204 km) miles to Winthrop.

I'm going to try to make it to Winthrop on a tank of fuel.
