Re: OCTOBERFAST 2018
The drive between Lytton & Lillooet was some of the best roads I've driven by far. Fresh blacktop, fun twistys and a perfect crisp fall day - who could ask for more!
Taking the 240z out on this run was a great choice for some GT cruising! I got hung up behind a dually towing a trailer but he knew the road well so he wasn't too slow. It was a good time to take a few photos of the incredible scenery.

Re: OCTOBERFAST 2018
We finally met up with the gang at A&W in Lillooet for a burger and a great discussion of Weber carburetors by the master, Paul Silva. We decided to split the group with the majority going back the same way and the rest of us taking the exciting & scenic Duffy Lake Road. Unfortunately Paul's Gordini began to run poorly so he limped into the Seton Lake lookout to see what happened. He quickly diagnosed the problem being a broken exhaust rocker arm. By removing the intake push rod and spark plug, the little Renault was running again. It sounded like a sick & noisy VW beetle now but it didn't seem to faze Paul as the car made it back home (some 265kms!) and PASSING traffic at will!

Boo, at least it wasn’t mid-canyon.
Re: OCTOBERFAST 2018
I managed to pick up the tail end of the "back through Hope crew" dropping in behind glen just after pick a part. we had just filled up the red rocket and with an extra 100L in the trunk power was down. I caught a glimpse of a green and a red 510 zipping by as we entered the on ramp . I ran the little 1600 out in third as I cam down the ramp, "what are you doing" she exclaimed as I shifted into fourth "picking up the pack" .... inside, outside bob and weave .... "hey a datsun" " ya its glen and I think james is a few cars ahead". thinking james was heading my way I managed to pass glen just before his turn off to the mission bridge. but in every gap the green 510 pulled farther away. "what does he have?" "turbo L18" I gave up the chase @ 176 and headed towards Richmond. little did I know I was chasing jasons turbo ka car.

A lot of jokes that could be captioned here, but since Byron is such a nice guy I’m not using any of them.

"Even though it was NOT one of my early starts, Byron still needed a quick nap!"
I thought that picture did deserve some comment, good job James.
Mike set the pace after Hope, in his 350Z, zipping along at 120 - 130 till I pulled off at Mt. Leman, at least for the most part there were no traffic holdups, this stretch can be really bad at times for accidents. Even 16th flowed along which at a lower rev was nice to wind down with after being at 4,500 for most of the day.

Re: OCTOBERFAST 2018
Funny you should ask..I have been thinking about it this past week as I am able to play with the Datsun again ( I think). I picked up some fuel last week and hope to drive the car to Specialty on Tuesday to check things out and hopefully replace a stripped valve cover bolt hole.
As the weather, at least this weekend has creamed the mountains and passes with snow and of course possibly salt, our corridors to get out have just closed up big time, unless we get a big thaw, rain and then dry.
So that being said, I potentially plan to make OCTOBERSLOW a drive starting with the Thanksgiving Sea to Sky Classic drive, then maybe continue on to at least Pemberton for a late lunch.....weather of course permitting.
https://classiccaradventures.com/bc-eve ... o-sky-run/
I have been given a clear message that my crazy early starts do not suit a lot of people anymore, witnessed by the lack of turn out these past years. As I have been a bit layed up for the last 2 months, I am ok with a later start and just a cruise for this coming month. If it was a beyond spectacular day, I would contemplate finishing to loop up the Duffy then to Lytton and back down the canyon.
We also face now, should some jerky cop want to give us a hard time, that snow tires are REQUIRED as of next Tuesday and no matter how hard I have stared at my 048's...I just do not see the M+S or snowflake designation on them.
Next spring/summer we can hopefully get back to some great early morning drives.
Thoughts?
