I have to head to Hope this morning so will post up a ton of pics this afternoon. Yes, the weather did hold, looks like we lucked out, as a week of rain lies ahead of us here.

What a nice drive out to Hope this morning, easy traffic and the fall colours where absolutely spectacular! I could not believe how busy our Chevron station was that we usually meet!

Sea to Sky Classic Car Drive 2019

No matter what I do, my days of these drives and events, starts early for me. As my car is NOT at my house, I still need to coffee up, have a quick shower, then, hit the road to go to the car.

Then it takes a bit of a process to get it out of the garage, fire it up quickly and drive just down the road so as not to piss off my daughters neighbours, where I let it warm up for 5 minutes or so.

My son came with me today which was really nice! We rolled onto 176th at 7 AM sharp and got to #1 right on time to meet Ron.

Even at 7:30 traffic was building, setting the tempo for our Canadian Thanksgiving traffic on the Sea to Sky.

We arrived at Cap College right at 8, where we found 3 dozen cars already there and within the hour the lot was almost full.

At least we had 4 - 510’s, Ron, James, Mike, and me.

Just a great eclectic mix of cars; always cool to look over.

The organizer gave us the speech about the snow tire rule past Horseshoe Bay but, we all rolled the dice on that one. I’m sure 90% of the cars did not have the appropriate markings on their tires. Would have been really shitty if the police stopped 100 cars that were going to support the Squamish food bank, AND the Gondola, which suffered the catastrophic vandalism at the height of summer, thus having to shut down. The Gondola lets us use their parking lot and opened their coffee shop for us.
F.Y.I. for you non locals that read this…someone cut the main transport cable in the middle of the night, this dropping the cars to the ground, destroying 20+ cars and of course the main cable, which had to be reordered, plus the cars and the whole system rebuilt. It is scheduled to reopen in April I believe. At this point they have no suspect(s) that they have made us aware of.

We rolled out at 9 where again I have to give myself a big slap up the headside to just take it easy. I spent a huge part of my life blazing the Sea to Sky, where back in time you never saw any police at all.

I did get one good blast against a Chevy and that was it.

We did the meet at the Gondola, which really was just a repeat of the Cap College parking lot.

Matt and I had entertained going to Squamish for lunch, but, I deferred to head home. I was just paranoid of the traffic grenading on the Upper Level and the Iron Workers bridge a mess. After that 2.5 hour trip in the summer I just could not face that. I could tell traffic was building as the flush out of Whistler was already starting by 11:00 AM as the weekend ended.

Back we headed, me, Mike and Ron doing a bit of a convoy and again trying to just flow. At one point, as the RCMP guy pointed his Laser at us, the reminder of not being a bad boy could not have been clearer. I HATE the Sea to Sky now, too much of a mix of fast/slow/in between, plus the ridiculously slow speed limit anyhow. Then, you have the guys with mountain bikes on the back, Mercedes drivers, Subaru clowns, who think they are going to stay ahead of me, yet park it in the corners. My car just hates that crap.

At least we did not get held up anywhere to any extent.

That’s a wrap for me this season, hopefully one more trip to Andy’s to change the oil for the winter and do a nut and bolt check if I can get the car onto the hoist.
