Steering Box - Interesting post on the DQ by Dean Sherman

Post by defdes » 30 Jan 2011 12:46

A nice FYI by Dean:
If there is anyone currently rebuilding or planning to rebuild the stock 510 steering box, I have about 35 of these "O" rings that I bought for rebuilding my box and a spare. I'm keeping a couple in reserve but I would like to give for FREE to anyone that's interested in getting a couple of them for their own use.
I had to buy a whole lot more than I needed and the shipping was the biggest expense.
So, send me a stamped self addressed envelope to: 1649 Humphrey Dr. Concord, CA 94519, and I'll send you a couple of them, that's it, 1st come, 1st served until they are gone.
The other parts you need to repair the box are:
2 each bearings w/cup Part #NTN SF0454 or #NSK VTAA19Z-3 (Nissan# 48190-21000). These are available for about $23 each from: Bearing Agencies Inc 277 7th St SanFrancisco, CA Phone 415-621-8363.
1 each sector shaft oil seal Part#PHLE AE1244N TC 24 35 7 (24=ID&35=OD&7=thickness all in MM)or NDK 48137-16500 (Nissan# 48137-16500). Also available from Bearing Agencies as above.
1 each worm gear oil seal Part#NDK 7890 485 48029-04100 (Nissan# 48029-04100). I got a 4 of them from Courtesy Nissan in Texas and ordered them online. Bearing Agencies probably has these in addition to the items above.
