My New Zealand built 1600 which as far as I know is mechanically standard has a Nikki 2 barrel carb, but I all technical info I can find on the L16 says it should have a Hitachi carb.. in NZ the 180B with the L18 had a single Nikki carb, but I don't think anyone would bother swapping another motor into a 1600 as shitty as mine - is the Nikki carb actually any better than the Hitachi?
Here in North America, the only factory alternative to the 2 Bbl. Hitachi carb was the duel Hitachi copy of the SU carburetors. Here I haven't heard of a Nikki carburator.
