N/A FJ20 Build

Post by defdes »

I have been talking about it for years, but now that the race season is drawing to a close, and the race car is in good shape, I can start putting some time into this project. Initally, it will be a carbed FJ, 91mm domed pistons from WISECO with about 10.5:1 c.r.. I have a FI intake, and ultimately will cadge an ECU and wiring from an '84 200SX and run EFI.

Looks nice... How much weight did you need to take off the rods?

After polishing, which I imagine took off a few, there was really only about .5-.75 grams needed to balance.

What kind of power are you looking at? What octane gas? :)

The FJ sounds like a nice motor...too bad they're so hard to come by. <chant>Turbo, turbo, turbo...</chant>

I have heard claims of 185+ with dual mikunis with large nner venturis. It's a 91 octane motor at least.

Upper chain tensioner replaced with a ratchet style from a Mazda. This keeps the chain tension tight at start up a stops the chain rattle these motors are known for due to low oil pressure in the stock tensioner (like L series).
