Talked to my insurance/collector car insurer.

As much as the Government has put forth the extension from 1958 cars to 1974 as a proposal for MODIFIED collector plate, it has in fact NOT gone in yet. SUPPOSEDLY, it is to roll out this spring, no date provided.

I checked into a few things and I would NOT make it, as I would need an emergency brake and a front bumper. I am not going to do that and the benefits of the collector plate are not worth the BS and there is a lot of BS.

Anyone that wants to apply needs to fill out an application, after having the car inspected so it has one of those MV inspection stickers on it.

I'm out!

That means my rear set belts have to go in . Crap. More stuff to clean.
Summer project now as I'm not waiting that long to put insurance on.

I never even thought of my rear seats. As stated, what the car came from from the dealer is what has to be in the car, which is kinda weird as we have a MODIFIED car. I dunno, I think the government makes stuff so silly people like me just throw up our hands and don't bother as the BS factor is not worth it.

Today was a parts finding day. Went through some parts I have not looked at for years. Can't beleave all the stuff I have in boxes etc. Some good parts too. Fender eyebrow trim, rear inside B pillar vent, dashes, speedo clusters. And on and on. Leftovers from 4 cars taken apart. It's time to purge some of this stuff.
One thing I didn't find at the shop today was some new lashpads for a new 445 cam I'm going to sell. I have been looking for them for a while now, with no luck, so I pulled some off a old head that the 445 cam had seized up in. .210s
Back home again and I went through the car, jets under the seat, got lucky and found the 44 jets for Byron. One more thing off the list.

After all that I went up into the attic and through my box I use on long road trips. Alternator, distributor, box full of smalls etc. And there it was! Sitting in a bag with a set of new points. The long lost lashpads. Score.

So what kind of price would a fresh M 445 Shadbolt cam with new pads go for these days? Im thinking the $200+ range?

That's funny Rob's name is there, as I used to hangout with him and Mike Mellish in the Road & Track days, the main store was on Hastings.

Mike had a great 510 with the full Nissan competition suspension in it. Rob used to run some of our Westwood track days with us in his 510. I delt with Mike before I hooked up with Andy at Specialty, so we are talking the mid 70's.

I ran into his son at the Langley car show that last time we were there.

Let me know if you find any extra of those little plastic trim pieces that attach to the pillar where the seat belt is. Couple of inches long attached with a single screw.

Well all the parts for the interior had been gathered up and I spent some time this Sunday putting the backseat area together. Thought I had everything but... I glued in the inner fender padding and vinyl pieces and then went to put in the original black {vinyl?} piece for the back seat area, that sites in front and below the front part of the seat, and it had shrunk over the last 6 years sitting in storage. WTF its like 1'' too short now. So I put the back seat in and will have to pick some vinyl up and trim it out later this weekend.
Trunk area is getting there too. Cut up the nice original trunk floor mat to fit around the battery and that went well. I need to bolt the jack storage mount back into the spare tire well as I had removed it to clean up the rust underneath it during the resto. Lucky I did have it painted with the car so some nice stainless bolts will do the trick. I need to also cut out a piece of something {?} to make a cover over the spare tire well opening. Kind of mad I threw out the ratty old original one as I could have used it as a template now.
No pics today, I will post some when I finish up a little more with the back seat trim etc...
Side note. I need to get car appraised this winter for the classic plates - its nice to see the value of the 510s going up over the last couple of years and Im curous as to the ballpark value of my car now. ? Haven't been following the market too much so...

Yo Chad, if you're gonna put the back seat in, make sure the seat belts go in as well, so its all legal like. Lookin' awesome so far!

Nearly half of these cars were delivered with white interiors, yet you rarely see one today - refreshing to see. Looks great Chad.

Getting close to putting insurance on.
Panelboard above the spare tire needs to be made, have to find a suitable material. And right side firewall covered with the factory piece, in a box at old shop some place. Lol
I can tell the car is much more quiet with all the added interior parts already. Will give it a go on the highway before deciding if the muffler will be changed out.

Thanks James,
I do have the seat belts and will put them in before the inspection. No one but the dog will EVER be riding back there so...
