Re: Phils 510
Nice!! I also have the rock guard painted on the rockers, I like it....looks more modern and is pretty durable too.....I didn't even ask for it, the guy that painted my car did that.....

More progress!!!
Had to finish all my welding before paint. But I still plan on doing an exhaust tunnel when I'm back home. Final sanding using tape to help guide me get the super sonic phantom line straight. Was going to mount both doors but found out while blocking One got a dent from storage. Start masking in the booth.

Thanks man. Don't for a second think I'm skilled at what I'm doing. I'm just trying to imitate skilled peoples work with guidance and lots of hard work. Number one thing is not to be afraid. If a man can do it hen I can do it or try too haha.joker72z wrote:Jeez that car is looking awesome Phil. Re: Phils 510
So after the sealer there is a window of time that you have to top coat it. I lightly wetsanded it with 600. Layed down my base coat. Every thing came out great up until the clear coat. First two coats I went too fast and not overlapped it good enough on the roof . The other panels came out great. I waited longer than I should have on the third coat. I was informed that I should have done a third coat. My window of time closing on as I mixed more clear. I went to fast period! And got too close on a spot on the door. Got some orange peel and dry spray. I should have redone it over. But I just don't have that time anymore. I can be salvaged but it will always be Just ok not great. I haven't mastered that damn clearcoat yet!

After letting it bake in the sun for a few days I started wet sanding if. Finishing it off with 2500. I couldn't get rid of everything because I might break through to the base coat. Then cut and buffed it. It's shiny!!

Very nice work!
Re: Phils 510
Love this build! This colour looks amazing. It's not Mt Fuji Blue is it?
The Carbon accesories are going to look so good on it. You going with a 73 grille? and carbon F1 mirrors?
And do you know what wheels are going on it yet?
Can't wait to see it finished!

Re: Phils 510
It's the factory 567 blue!! Only basecoat/clear so it's not 100% correct. Hell no! To that grill. 68 grill. Though I want a 69 SSS coupe grill. It's beautiful. Already have SSS fender mirrors. Thinking te37v but I have to find a way to get thosemacdatty wrote:Love this build! This colour looks amazing. It's not Mt Fuji Blue is it?

Phil,
What makes the basecoat /clear different than the single stage color wise?
