A fun YouTube Doubler of one of the above clips VS onboard footage. Obviously over-driving here in a few spots, luckily the car is a great communicator at the limit and I am confident in my ability to reign it in when necessary.

hey Derek,

I only mention this because I have seen it before. Keep an eye on the ears on that starter motor, due to the MASS hanging so far away from the motor, the engine vibration will be going through those, and over time, they can crack off.

Yes it's true! My old car is up for sale again. If you all recall, I sold it back in January 2015 for $16,500. It doesn't look like the guy I sold it to changed anything -- even my JDM soda bottle catch cans are still there. He actually gave it to his 16 year old kid who managed to not crash it while driving it sporadically over the last 5 years (his main ride was a track prepped E36 M3). The kid's off to college so the car moved hands to the guy who is running this Bring-a-Trailer-esque auction site. He has a few 510s -- the most interesting one (aside from mine) is a BREish livery BB Coupe http://www.speedhunters.com/2018/03/510 ... sss-coupe/ He was also behind Troy Ermish's SEMA 510 build for Daniel Wu.

I thought he may hold onto the car, but now it's up on the block. My prediction: it doesn't hit reserve (although I have no idea what it is). I think on a good day on BaT it could catch $25k+. To all you guys who have 510s still, I guess they're part of your retirement plans now!

As for me and my cars -- I had an AP2 S2000 for a few years after my 510 but sold it last October. Looking for a fun small 2+2 so I can roll with my kids who are now 4 & 6. I would consider a 510 again but they are just too expensive! :D Likely a 1st gen new Mini S or Fiat 500 Abarth.

Good things take time! Glad to see it again. How did you end up with yet another set of mismatched driver side doors? Whats the plan???

Here's pics of it from ownership 20(!!!!!) years ago. My mismatched doors

I don’t recall, but it’s hanging on to one original door still. Been hoping to drive it this summer as a Ratsun, but life is determined to get in the way. The weekend we started putting it back together, was the weekend we decided to start impromptu house buying.

Sold for $20,250 -- which in this market feels like a bargain. BaT would have brought more I think.

The guy who ultimately won (BaT regular "craZee") it sold a 510 on BaT back in 2017 for a relative mint (for a simple B Sedan build) -- so he's done well on both ends., ending up with $10k and arguably a lot more 510.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-510-12/

He's also sold 10 cars on BaT, so maybe it'll be a quick flip?

https://bringatrailer.com/member/crazee/

In any case, I'm going to reach out and see where it heads to next!

Super excited to get this car. Didn't really think I would get it as my bid was as high as I was willing to go. Just sold my half interest in another 510, so I will have gone 2 weeks w/o a 510 in my garage. Always Z cars in there however lol

Hey Derek,

Good to see you on here! Thanks again for getting me those arm rests, they have been just great.
