Just got back from Austin, great place. But, couldn't believe the black mold on the buildings, being from Nevada. On the strut thing , Bryon will know the thread pitch, he cuts them in the lathe.

Welcome back, Joel-- to the Realm, and even more importantly to life itself. Every day is a gift!

I hope your move goes smoothly and retirement is good. I imagine that all kinds of things are looking and feeling very different these days after a close call like that.

All the best;
Steve

Glad to hear it did go well for as you, good health is something most of us take for granted.

The thread size is M48x1.5

These was discussion about using a tap to extend the threads in an old thread. Turns out that this tap size is available, but I'm not sure it can be simply tapped out by hand. Securing the strut would be a challenge, that's a big gap! Secondly, the ID of the strut tube does need to be machined out to the correct bore size first, and if that's been done in a lathe, one may as well cut he threads with a single point tool while your there.

My thoughts on the project.

Good luck with your move.

Byron,
Thanks for the info.
So after many months of sitting in the garage I went to start the car and discovered that the nozzles on the SUs were stuck in the "choke off" position. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to mess with it but later this week I'll dig into it. So is it the new crappy gas that we have responsible for this? I wouldn't think gas would go bad after sitting for seven months but maybe it does. If that's the case, I will have to make sure I drive it more often.

Well I got the car running today,
The nozzles were really gummed shut and I had to remove the carbs to get them broken loose.

One more thing, BRE (located in Henderson by Las Vegas ) is having an open house on Sept. 30th
I'm going to drive the car there and maybe they will give me a preferred parking spot.
That would be cool so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
