Some of the details going into the car. Rather than using a 50 year old piece of plastic for the heater box cover, I got a front cover made up out of steel, with some counter sunk holes. Installed an electronic boost controller, which is attached by Velcro, so it can be hidden away. Lastly all the door cards/trims covered in a velvet effect type material - pretty happy with those...

So there has been plenty of dramas and issues to work through along the way. The biggest, when we went to start the car for the first time, it didn't sound right - effectively like some kind of air pump. After checking everything fuel, spark blah blah twice or three times, I did a leak down test results below......

So started the process of removing the motor once again to determine what was going on internally.

Basically to cut a very long story short, the valve seats were not cut properly. At TDC you could see full moon circles around the edge of the valves. absolute balls up. In the end I just got on with fixing the issues. Lots more dollars spent including some drop in cams and the replacement of all the rocker arms due to age and wear.

This has been probably the most frustrating part of the build to date. Needless to say I changed machine shops and used a different mechanic in order to complete the fix

trying to catch up to the where the car stands now.

Once the head was rebuilt and the motor was put back together, it went straight into the car. Went through the normal processes of building up oil pressure and priming fuel. Then with one more turn of the key the car started first time no dramas. Besides playing with the thermo fan switches (trying to get the thermo to kick in earlier) it was pretty finished ready to roll.

It then went off to the turners, to ensure everything was running as it should, air/fuel ratios etc.

Removed the electronic boost controller and just tuned it up with the spring pressure from the actuator. After final tuning the car generated 250hp at the wheels, with boost pressure being set at 10psi. Which was a good surprise, and is a bit of fun whilst driving until I do the 1000kms run-in.

very well done, the color suits the car extremely well .
attention to detail with an understated look(to me).
