200SX VG Strut Bump Steer Spacers- Completed

Postby 510wizard » 09 Apr 2011 08:20

Here is the latest out of the Fast Guido Motorsport's workshop from the past week, bump steer spacers for the S12 200sx VG strut, that adapt to the stock 510 steering arm. 54mm on the top side for the larger bottom hole on the 200sx strut, 40mm hole on the bottom for the 510 steering arm. With a spacer height of 1.25". A nice big chunk of aluminum, just a little bit of de burring to do and then their done.

You know, I think the only other guy to make these was Matt, and that was a few years ago.
What height did you make the spacer (note counting the centering spiggot)?

The spacer part is 1.25", the spigot is 0.25" in height.

How many are you making? I will be needing a set for my strut swap?

Monte, I've had a jig to place struts in the lathe for shortening since 1994, and many a strut have been modified in that jig (probably no less than 50 sturt sets, I kid you not!) Then a few years ago a guy here on the real asked if I could shorten his 200SX struts - no worries said I. Then I find the spigot on my jig is, as you stated, much too small! Simple fix, flip around that steel jig, and machine a 200SX spigot on the back side, uses the same threaded holes for fixation - and away we go! :D

I love your machine work, a man after my own machinist heart. Only you've got access to automated machinery. I still get by with the old hand cranks and a little uni-directions feed in one axis only type of machining  We make it work.

I might make some more if there is a demand. I will check about the material cost, I had this material already in the shop when I made this pair. Is Matt still making these?

Thanks for the props. Yes, the Deckel CNC tool room mill has allowed me to do things, that would have taken a whole lot longer to do on the manual machines. This is especially true with the contours. The machine is extremely accurate, but isn't designed for production, just one or two offs.

Been super busy with other stuff, but thanks for kicking my butt in to gear. I will get the material price this week. One quick question, do you guys want me to source the bolts or leave it to you?

Price on a pair of these spacers is $87.00 shipped by USPS priority mail. I can make them in either 1.25" ,1.125" or 1.00" spacer height with a .25" high spigot. If you want to pay by Pay Pal then add 3 %. After I get commitments on how many people want them, I will then order the material. I will then collect the money after they are completed.

Re: 200SX VG Strut Bump Steer Spacer- Now taking orders

Postby dscottdatsun » 02 May 2011 22:05

I would like a pair! :D Please! (Mama told me to always use my manners) How much difference does the height of the spacer make? IIRC the NISMO spacer was an inch, so I'll go with that. I am not looking to put my ride on the floor.
