15x7 and 15x8

Post by 4DCYKEY »

I am the sole owner of a 1972 2dr 510, which I am now restoring after sitting in the garage for 18 years. The car has stock 510 suspension with BRE/Suspension Technique Spring, stock brakes, stock crossmember, and 13x7 +0 Libres with 185x60 in front and 205x60 in the back. All fenders have been rolled. The front tires/rim stick out about 1/2 inch; the backs fit with the non-slotted crossmember. The engine is a L18 SSS from Japan with the stock 4 speed.

I am putting in a set of Wilwoods and coilovers from Troy. I am also putting in Dean Sherman's slotted crossmember. My plan is to use Rota RB 15x7 +25mm in the front with 195x50 tires, and 15x8 +12mm in the back with 205x50 tires.

I am looking for feedback on the front tire/rim choice, and the back tire/rim choice. Any feedback, especially from anyone that has this setup is much appreciated. Thanx.

May want to consider the benefit of being able to rotate tires. I have 205/50-15 on 15x7 all around and am happy with it. 195's on 7" all around is popular as well. 205's may have a slight "stretched" look on a 8" wide rim.

I agree, 205/50 on a 7" rim is a very good combo. Some "feel" in the sidewall, yet firm enough for very high performance driving ( given it is a very high performance tire )
