T3 Coilover trouble
T3 Coilover trouble
I bought a brand new set of 280ZX coilovers from T3 for my 510. When I tried to slip the hubs onto the spindle they didn't seem to fit. So I tried my old 510 hubs and they didn't fit. So I bought brand new 280ZX bearings and they don't seem to fit. Thoughts?
Re: T3 Coilover trouble
In the previous thread, someone asked if there was powdercoating on the spindle where the inner bearing should ride. If so, whatever slip/fit tolerance there was would have been taking up by the PC.

What's the ID of your bearing? datzenMike listed 31.75mm as a ZX bearing diameter. I assume that's ID. If so, no, I've never seen the problem you have.
14 thou isn't a huge difference, but I don't know if you'll really be able to get your spindle down to that ID with sandpaper, nor will you really be able to control the concentricity.
...the tapered and threaded portions of your spindle look like bare metal, but that inner bearing land (your second picture) looks like the same color as the rest of the strut.

Re: T3 Coilover trouble
Did someone media blast the spindle? In the second picture, It has a very dark look to it where the bearing is supposed to fit, from the factory that area is polished.
Re: T3 Coilover trouble
Yeah, that's where I think there might be powdercoating (someone else mentioned it in the previous thread).

Re: T3 Coilover trouble
Did you buy the 280ZX struts from T3, or just a coil-over kit? If you bought the entire struts from them, did you phone them?JDMonster wrote:I bought a brand new set of 280ZX coilovers from T3 for my 510. Re: T3 Coilover trouble
If it is powder coating you can use ABS / PVC primer to remove the coating.

Re: T3 Coilover trouble
Problem resolved. Emry cloth and scotch brite pad was enought to get the. Into the spindle.
