Need recommendations for 195/50/15 tires
Need recommendations for 195/50/15 tires
Looking at picking up a set of 15x6.5 wheels and looking at getting some 195/50/15 tires. I know I could go 205 for the tires but I want to make sure I give myself plenty of room to avoid hitting the strut when I upgrade to 280zx's in the future. Car is driven in New England in only the warm months so what tire should I be looking at?

Go to one of the online tire shops and search by size. Look around, you can buy them for $50 to $200+ each.
It depends on what your needs are and what fits those needs the best. Performance tires generally are more expensive, have higher grip levels and wear out faster. Cheap tires are generally all the opposite.
Try

or

Yea, I've used tire rack before. Car will be driven on the street mostly but I'd occasionally like to do some auto-x. I know that the most expensive tire isn't always the best so I wanted to learn from the experience of others.

I daily my car with R888R's (treadwear 100) they last about a year autoXing a ton. It turns out lower tread wear tires don't wear much until you do some fancy driving. Sam autoX's way less then me but drives more miles per day, his tires lastest twice as long as mine. I personally would run 200 tread wear or lower.

I am currently running Yokohama A048's and love them. They are 60 treadwear. I have a set of Nankang AR-1's on the way to test out. They are about half the price of the Yokohama's so if they feel close to them in performance I think they will be my autox/trackday tire.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Looks like they make it in a 205/50/15 but not a 195/50/15. Was thinking about going to a 195 because I'm afraid the 15x6x5 +15 wheels will hit the strut on a 205 tire.

You can always use a spacer to get it in the right spot. There are lots of billet spacers on EBay for cheap. That way you get the wheel just where you want it.
