It drives me crazy having imperial fasteners in my datto. I want to build some brakes that fit under 13's. So maybe some factory alumuinum smallish 4 piston calipers.

What about the Sumitomo units from a Z32? Too big?

Yeah to big for 13's. I might just give up and buy a Wilwood kit from DPracing since my brakes are being shitty right now.

Make sure whatever you get, that you have the ability to have a range of brake pads. At least for me, I ran as soft a compound as I could at the slaloms. You want that quick and lineal bite of a soft pad to snub the car speed down. Then I have a full on race type pad for track days/high speed events.

Maybe it's time to get the CNC fired up and make your own low profile calipers with metric-only hardware.

If you are going fully metric, you will need a metric port tool to cut some nice o-ring pockets!

oops, nevermind, those only go down to M8 - a bit big for brake lines!

I personally don't mind using imperial fasteners. I have been using AN hardware exclusively for any imperial fastener on my car for a while. AN fasteners are available in a large number of lengths, and they have proper shoulder diameters and lengths to be used in suspension and chassis applications. Pretty much the only metric fasteners on my car now are drive train related or thread into a stock location on the chassis or suspension, everything else is standard...I'm sure it would drive you crazy!

Yeah Duke that would kill me! As of now I just don't have time to build a brake kit myself. To busy working on our Lucky Dog car and my coupe. It's going to be tough bolting a kit with imperial fasteners onto my car!!! No other option at the moment.

I know you already have a big brake kit - just use it.

What wheels are you planning on running?

Ive got the DP racing Wilwood kit that is supposed to clear 13's... but had a hard time finding a 13" wheel that cleared.... Emailed DP on it and they said that Panasports fit, but couldnt confirm other wheels. I tried some steelies (didnt expect them to fit), mini-lites and American Racing Libres. Ended up having a local guy fab up some caliper adapters that pulled the caliper slightly closer to the hub to clear the Libres... I want to pick up a set of the Rota RB 13's eventually, hoping they fit....

Just an FYI...

Other then that the brakes are great, have them paired with a 15/16th master and maxima rear calipers.
