I have used the VW Rabbit inserts and cut the struts down the match - it was low... Realy Low! I ended up making another set of struts using MR2 inserts.

But all’s not lost, just use a tube spacer at the bottom of the strut tube to bring them up - maybe 1-1.5” for a street car. There’s enough stroke in the VW insert.

My thoughts.

I just built some struts for my coupe with VW inserts on ZX struts. I cut 2" almost exactly out of the ZX struts. Your cut may very depending on the top nut.

i already have a strut tube length ive used in the past- i will space the inserts to match-- i believe it was the shorter of the mr2 inserts - i checked some that are already welded together and the insert is below 13.5" - the vw and koni race are both shorter than this

I have a set of Tokico BZ1085 fronts for an '86 MR2 that I apparently bought by mistake. They are the exact same length as the stock 280ZX inserts, 14 7/8 ". With uncut ZX strut housings, will this combo lower the car at all? Also Eibach 2 1/2 X 8 X 275#....

275 lb springs will likely overpower a tokiko insert.. the insert has to have the appropriate valving to be able to control the spring pressure you are using. thats also really stiff for a street car imo.. the bilsteins which are currently STILL backordered come in B6 or b8 valving - if you want to use 275s i think you need the koni race or B8 inserts -

id start with 225 lb spring- with those-- or 200s.. all depends on how low for ride height. and if your under 150 hp then 175 lb-- and also factor in tire width and stickiness, and use. - theres many variables to consider for shock and spring--

If you need a set of eibach 200lb 8" springs let me know. I have a pair sitting in a box in my garage.

member; one can only lower the stock bump stop by 1in before the sway bar collides with the tc rods.

Well...Cartel...You just answered all of my unasked questions..I thought the springs might be a little much for the Tokico's, and my retinas. funwithmonkeys I believe you have a customer. I'll send you a pm. RMS, I read on a post where you can relocate the TC rod but can't remember where. Do you think the drop I'll get, about 2 inches?, will necessitate me doing that? Anybody need a pair of 275# Eibach's?
