Kept it at the body shop for a little bit just to do some tiny little changes and it's going to get polished up before being transported back down to the South.

Just placed another order with Kameari Engine Works for some more bits to finish dressing up the engine bay and finishing the fuel system. Little jobs to keep be busy with other the winter as I'd not be driving it anyway.

Let me know if you're bored of seeing it yet

Fuel tank vent? I have done similar but mine exits under the car, so if upside down, fuel will not run out.

This is amazing.... have absolutely loved following along.

I know it's been a huge journey with all the ups and downs, joys and disappointments, but it's turned out great and really has been worth the time and investment to get it to where it is now. Can't wait to see it being driven and enjoyed, you deserve it!

Thank you Bert. The car always looked so good from its time in Japan and I was very conscious not to change the overall look, just to make everything better than new.

JDM y0! LOL, thank you. As Bert said, it's a fuel breather hose from the fuel cell. It's just what they did in the 70's and all the cars in the class it ran in had similar.

Yup, there's a one way non return (I forget the term) valve in it so it doesn't leak if the wrong way up.

Thank you! So much life has happened since when I first purchased this car from Japan. From moving back to the UK, Buying and renovating 2 houses, getting married, working 4 different jobs and recently welcoming our first child into the world. The car has never been my number 1 priority, but it's always been there on my mind and I am so happy to see it (although only virtually) almost finished.

I still need to do a lot of work to it, but hopefully (time/money allowing) I can crack on over the winter and finally drive it next spring. UK laws being what they are, it is road legal as it is :D

Stay tuned for more updates.

My house is still under construction at the moment but the guy doing the 510 got bored of seeing it and dropped it off Sunday morning.

Image

I did plan to have a resin floor, insulated walls, electrics run, heating and an insulated door on the garage before the car arrived but with Brexit, Covid, global shipping issues and supply chain problems the house build is 3 months behind.

Image

That'll do for now I guess, for security I put the car up on jack stands and remove the wheels. CCTV and alarm is up and running though and got a little tracker in the car too.

Winter jobs involve:

Running new brake hard lines and braided hose
Rebuilding rear drums brakes with new shows
New brake master cylinder
New clutch master/slave/hose
Fit fuel pumps, filters and run new fuel lines
Fit new alternator and wire it in (car never had one)
Replace a few bolts in the engine with new shiny ones
Install radiator fan
Install S.E.V lights
Install sequential flasher
Clean/paint interior
Finish under sealing body
Fit decals
Do burnout

I will do.If you're on Instagram I tend to post a lot of pictures on there.

Had to board up the garage today as there's no chance of getting a door on this year. I'll start to plod on with the work soon... I got a couple notifications today of items shipped.

Some random parts I've got to go on that I've had for a while:

Some of the new bits on order:

Image

There's a new black 90a alternator, harness, another fuel pump, coil and some service items in there.

New calendar and 2x 'mechanical power' iron on patches for my race suit

Image

Considering it's ran for all of 10 seconds it is looking very old in here:

Image

And inside needs so much attention still

Image

But new R Type Watanabe wheels makes it all better :D

I'd love those wheels for my project... how long did you have to wait for them?

I've just inventoried all of my parts in about a dozen large bins so it all stays safe, but I can also find where it is when I need certain "bits".

I ordered the wheels on the 28th April this year and they're only ready for shipping now. No idea how long shipping will take either. Last think I got from Japan as over 100 days to the UK.

So about a year from order to delivery... that timing is probably ok for me. Did you order from a UK reseller or direct from Japan? I am not aware of any Canadian resellers so ordering Japan direct may make the most sense. How did you decide on offset?

I ordered them direct, they take orders via email but will push them out to agents if they have them. info@falcon-d.com

Offset they told me what would work with my over fenders, I put a lot of trust and faith in them  hopefully they're okay.

They do have a user gallery on their website, http://www.rs-watanabe.co.jp/category/userphoto/nissan/ scroll down to P510 and it'll show what customers are running, doesn't say if they have any spacers or arch work done but gives a good idea of fitment.
