Re: Paul's 69 510 4 Door Project
Hey guys,
You are right, we'll have to set-up a time to get together. Maybe we can get Scott Fischer to bring the former Chris of Maine 4 door and get Chris to come down and tell us were he's at on his 510-510-510 Wagon project.
Paul,
Your car is looking good. I just need to step up and get going again on my street 2 door. Once its running its onto the 510 vintage racer project.

Thanks for the compliment Dave. What is your street 510? Maybe you can get it done by this year's Japanese car day at the Lars Anderson Museum and we can all show up with our 510's. I saw you and your wife at last year's event.

When is the Lars event Paul? Dave can always bring the ITC 510 if the street 510 isn't ready.

From the looks of the site, it hasn't been set yet. Sounds like a good place to though.Three B's Racing wrote:

The All Japanese Car Show at the Lars Anderson Museum is a great event for Datsuns. It was in July I believe. I spectated in 2010.
The New England Z Club and the Datsun Roadster Owners of New England show up in force. One 710 and that was about it for other Datsuns. It would be a great place for us New England 510 owners to show up in mass (no pun intended ).
My street car is a '71 2 door I found in Merideth, NH. It had been garaged since '92. I am the car's 3rd owner.
Here is a link to some pictures on arrival day and some build pictures of the LZ23 engine that will be going into it.

Re: Paul's 69 510 4 Door Project
Holy cow Dave, I'd forgotten in what nice condition that car was in. That was very likely the last barn find 510 in New England.
Re: Paul's 69 510 4 Door Project
Nice find Dave!! What did you end up doing with the L16 engine that was in the car?
I thought the show was in mid August? Here is the link I posted back in 2010:

Defdes, Yup my street 510 was a rare in NE find for sure.
Paul, you are right it was August 14, 2011 and August 15, 2010. Any guesses on the 2012 date? Do I hear a 12? The L16 with the dual SU's is sitting in my barn looking all lost and forgotten. Why you looking to give it a litlle love?

Re: Paul's 69 510 4 Door Project
Yesterday I started scraping the glue from the right side doors from the door gaskets. It took almost 4 hours! Does anyone know a quicker way without removing paint?
Re: Paul's 69 510 4 Door Project
IIRC 3M makes a weatherstrip adhesive remover chemical. I haven't used it so I don't know if/what it does to paint. "Try on an inconspicuous spot first"

Re: Paul's 69 510 4 Door Project
i've always just used a rag and liberal amount of reducer or WHY on it that I've found in the garage, just to soften it up.
usually then balls up and brushes off.
