The question is not that it is achievable, but for how long will it live?
Haha so true... So true! :)
has years of development behind it.
Well I am still going to go for it, it is going to be interesting to see what kind of numbers I can extract from it

Alright, here is a bit of an update on the project:

My SR20DET injectors arrived a few days ago, all seem to be intact, want to go and get them flow tested sometime soon.

Have found a reputable panel guy who will sort my rear end problem out for roughly $900, which isn't too bad considering the kind of work he does, so that is a big relief! 8)

A small problem popped its ugly head out yesterday. My drivers side window winder pulled off to reveal the "button" is stripped, as well as the inside of the winder itself, so now I cant close the window without a wrench  Is there anyway I could fix this? Or will I need to source a new winder mechanism?

Thats that for now, going outside to go wash her for a small show tomorrow, will take some pics and post them here for you guys to see.

Cheers
Jared

So your handle splines and the regulator splines are stripped? If you never wanted to take your panel off again you could just epoxy them together. You may also be able to drill and tap the stripped regulator shaft for a small bolt (4mm?) and convert your handle to bolt-through.

Otherwise you're going to need to source that part from another.

Julian, I've considered drilling into it to tap a small bolt through the aftermarket winder I have, just not 100% certain how I should go about this though. Will look into it.

Thanks

I'm wondering if the splined shaft is hardened. That'd make any operation much more difficult, but also makes me wonder how the shaft was stripped in the first place.

Nice pictures, I love looking at all the regional trim differences.

I was thinking the same when I was looking at it a few hours ago. Would indeed make it a bit of a job :(

Alas, I need to agree with you here again...

Thanks, yeah there were quite a few variations over here in the trimmings, but they all look good (obviously)

Alright then, after a bit of a slow down with the project, here is what I plan on doing in the following months:

1. Going to start stripping the car to take it to the body shop.
2. Decide whether to keep the car the current colour or change it to something else, as I am planning on doing a sort of two tone with black fender flares, spook and matt black wheels.
3. Get a roll cage put in. Need to decide whether to go full cage or half cage.
4. Source a set of Hayabusa six piston calipers to mount on the front and put my two piston calipers and discs on the rear.
5. Fully customise the front and rear suspension with rose joints etc for maximum adjustibility. I want to design a strut brace that integrates the camber plates into it to make one solid unit. Slot the rear crossmember etc etc... The basics I guess.
6. Get an Aluminium Fuel Cell to replace the leaking stock tank, along with new FI fuel lines and Warlbro 255lph pump.
7. Sort out the wiring.
8. Design custom seat rails and get a set of Takata harnesses.
9. Hydraulic handbrake between the seats.
9. Make new door panels and panels to cover up the back seat area.
11. Install decent sound system that wont add too much extra weight.
12. Start building and fabricating my L16 turbo motor setup:
-Fully reworked cylinder head
-Resleeved and O-ringed block
-Forged Venolia Pistons - turbo spec
-Forged con rods
-Forged crankshaft
-Reground camshaft for turbo application
-550cc Rotary injector's
-Dual Dellorto sidedraughts converted into ITB's
-Custom FMS
-TDO4 turbo
-FMIC
-Dumpvalve - HKS SSQV II hopefully...
-Turbo oil pump
-Baffled sump
-3inch downpipe into 2.5inch exhaust system from downpipe back, two boxes.
-Metal head gasket (still pondering on this one)
-Aluminium radiator

13. 5 speed tranny with a 280ZX diff.

It is time to get my dime to shine. 8)

Regards
Jared

It is isn't it?

Haha I have just decided to get my @$$ off the ground and finish my car, I am getting fed up of trying to get a daily driver for transport while im building my "baby", so she will become my daily driver as soon as she is finished. 8)

Has anybody ever painted a 510 in the Hakosuka silver before?

Got a neat idea for a colour scheme for my dime...

Bit of bad news here...

Project is on hold for a while till I can get the necessary parts and funds to properly fix the body of my 4 door. Turns out the left front fender is rusted in places, both door sills are badly rusted and the one C-pillar might be rusted too.

The front fenders don't want to come off either, wrong bolts have been used and seems like the left fender has been either glassed or glued onto the body ahead of the front door.

Pretty bummed about this all, but something a lot more special has crossed my path as can be seen in my new thread here.

Such is life I guess lol... :?:

Proflex here documents his repair of that top fender area, including making new panels.

Not that you care, you Coupe-owning bastard.

So... Good old murphy just has to SHIT on me now that I have been daily driving this car... Drivers side door handle broke 5 mins ago... After working fine for the last two years...

Is it a major job to fix it... Or am I better off trying to source a new handle, if that is at all possible? I have never had to work on the handles so I have no idea What to do now... :|

open the door, remove the interior door panel, there are two nuts that hold the handle to the door, remove them and pop off the linkage, the handle will come off the door. it's that easy. what broke? the handle itself or did the linkage just pop off?? Investigate man!! start taking things apart....
