Really Ratty Rusty Ruby RIP

Post by indy510 »

Back in the day, when I used to drive a 510 ... I almost drove my green BRE flared 510 to Shasta 2006

For some stupid reason, I didn't go ... and when I saw the photos from Shasta, I really didn't know what to think of this car:

Out of all the 510's at shasta that year, there were only 3 with SR20 swaps. The other two were full on show cars, with perfect paint and more money than I could ever imagine invested into them. I had looked into swapping out my 510's tired L20b for a newer Nissan 4 cylinder, and I knew I could never afford a SR20DET swap.

… but here was one of the worst looking 510's I had ever seen, with the motor I could only dream about:

This car just made me mad. I couldn't understand why the owner didn't start with one of the nice original paint 510 shells that could be found for $800 back in 2005. It seemed like a waste of money and time. I considered the perfectly painted 510 show cars to be works of art, but this car...

this car..

no,, , they are not the same car.....

and I can't take any credit for making this car a daily driver ,,,, , , , Phil did a great job making it reliable

..... and best of all it drives straight down the road,,, it has never had replaced panels or bodywork ..... . which my 2 door had an abundance:
