Tim's car

Post by icehouse »

Tim was my little brothers best friend. He's been wanting a 510 for a while. So I searched and search. Well anyone who's looked for a two door lately knows there are NO good ones left for a decent price. So I made and trade and got this one for him plus some parts to do a KA swap. I know it looks AWESOME!!! Can't wait to get it lowered on some nice wheels. The car went through a flood a few years ago and hasn't been on the road since the early 80's. There are dents and rust but we all know that just builds character Here are some pics of what we got going.

It sucks the rust that shows up after a good cleaning.... Nothing the Miller can't fix!

Wow. Great progress. Looks nice.

Seats look like they are from a Porsche. I had a set like those in a 510 once. Easy almost bolt in. Just had to drill some new holes.

Keep the pics and progress reports coming.
Enjoy The Ride!

HAHA yeah someone installed S30 struts in the 4 door. I should have gotten more pics of that car. It was someones gem at one point. The heater system was crazy! It had white leather sets deep dish rims, the works!

Yep Porsche seats! Dave has the same style in his car. I personally think they are about the best junk yard factory seats we can find, they look like they somewhat belong and are cheap.

So Jeff, was all the rust damage due to a leaking battery you figure?

Nice repair BTW.

Yeah Byron I figure that's what it had to be. The rest of the car is in fairly good condition rust wise.

I've seen many otherwise good early Z cars suffer badly from this same issue. The batter acid takes off the paint, and in this climate that sheet metal is gone in a year or two.

Keep us posted on the project.
