Damnit, you guys are really pushing me to make my own bar aren't you. Very nice work (said with jealous and frustrated scowl)!!

If you have access to a torch to heat up the bar I say go for it.There are a few things i would do different. I should have made the sway bar bushing mounting area 3/4 of an inch longer than i did. I should have made a slight up hill bend, this would have raised the bolt hole for the adjustable links. Mine is too low when the suspension has weight on it I can not mount the end links. I shortened the male heim joint threads but that did not help. My next step is either a new bar or mount the female heim using poly bushings against the control arm. I am sure that will allow me to lower the female heim bolt hole and still give me plenty of movement. I am amazed at how little body roll i have with the 1 inch bar. When i put new 275 lb coil springs on I am sure it will be even more of a difference. Overall I am happy with the sway bar.

Today I went to the local Pick-A-Part and purchased some rear seats out of a Jaguar XJS for 25.00 the guy at the check out said they were only seat cushions and not the entire seat. LOL guess he did not know they were the entire seat. anyway here is the initial fit up. I was actually hoping there would be a little more space in between the seats for a console. but i like them so far.

Well I just could not resist the temptation to rally my car. I have decided to go back to the orginal intent of this car and make it my rally car. It really helps that i do not have to daily drive it any more. I am only 6 mins from work and my F350 and my Katana 750 are now my DD's.

Here is the progress on my roll cage so far.

I'm not sure about your local rally regs, but usually the front header bar at the top of the windshield needs to be gusseted and often the lateral bar which comes across the top of the door back to the main hoop often needs a gusset as well. Maybe check out your local regs. Hate to see you have it all done and then not make tech!

This is not a finished cage. I am in contact with Rally America and the NASA scrutineers who will be inspecting the cage. This is just the point i am up to at this date.

What sort of boxes/braces do you have going on in the front footwells?

Julian,

Right now the cage is just sitting on aluminum C-Channel. I made them long so i could slide the cage to do welding on the lower tubes easier. It is roughly the height of the boxes i will build when the cage is ready for final attachment to the chassis.

Here are the last two images for the day. I made sure to get Mike Hursts (Rally America) approval before final welding on the door sill and door bar. Tomorrow I will start the A pillar reinforcement.
