GAS 1600
Re: GAS 1600
Did the drivers side inner rear quarter panel today.
Started with this after removing the wheel arch section and the top brace.

Re: GAS 1600
Made some quick changes to the inner wheel arch, had to remake and reweld in a section as it wasn't quite meeting the outer panel.

Ground and a bit more planishing. Might have planished a little too much on the weld before grinding as the weld was pushed into the panel a little.

Your work is amazing!!!
Re: GAS 1600
Thanks Miguel. While I am happy with the level of panels that I have been able to create, every time I look at them I see something else I don't like. But, seeing as I am building this car as a quick build, I am doing my best to not go back and redo the panels too much. I will just use a bit of filler to make the panels straighter.Your work is amazing!!!

I have been pretty slack with updating this thread so this will be in two parts. This post is from 4/5 May.

It worked fantastic to keep all the dust in and away from the rest of the shed. I do have to come up with a different sandblaster if I do it again though, I was using the suction gun from my cupboard but it just uses far too much air.

Re: GAS 1600
This post is from today.
The car had been hit in the drivers front corner and the previous repair was rather dodgy. So I started with a fair bit of panel beating before unpicking the front end and starting over. I didn't get many good photos of the damage, but it was wrinkled a bit.
GAS1600_020_04 by Garvice, on Flickr
GAS1600_020_05 by Garvice, on Flickr
GAS1600_021_01 by Garvice, on Flickr
I started by cutting off the top outside support so that I could beat the panel back into shape a bit.

Support needed a bit of work too.

Then after some panel beating I unpicked the front end.

Started with a rough shape and went from there.
GAS1600_021_06 by Garvice, on Flickr

GAS1600_021_08 by Garvice, on Flickr
Decided the support need to be unpicked and rebuilt too. Look how many spot welds they used in the factory! Or maybe that was from the repair, either way, someone didn't want this to come apart.

I purposely left the radiator opening unfinished as I don't know the size of the radiator I will be using yet. I took lots of photos of the process, so hopefully I have enough to do a right up of how I did the panel in the metal forming thread.

In regards to working on the sheet metal, sometimes I am my own worst enemy.
This is what I had done last week with the front driver's radiator support.

It needed a little piece at the front which I had cut off. Instead I decided to replace the hole section. HA.

Re: GAS 1600
Welded in the rear passenger bottom quarter panel that I had bought. This represents the last large rust repair panel on the body section of the car. Few small sections to touch up and the removable panels to work on, but for the actual body, this is pretty much it.
Camera broke so was using phone to take photos, consequentially I didn't take any photos of the work completed on the inside panel.
