Now then.

After my initial introduction, a little bit of info and a few pictures with a few questions below.

SSR MK1s will be sold, no idea what the wheels on the right are, any help? Pistons in a box are never a good thing

Refresh60 decal on an (So I've been fold) FIA Rear spoiler.



TRD Seat? Not 100% sure but does look like the old TRD/Tosco seat.

ETA to land in the UK is mid/late July, hopefully I'll be able to go back to the UK then (I'll be working in Breckenridge, Colorado first 2-3 weeks of July)

Deliberately I've missed out the engine, it should be an L18 'race' engine, but I won't know this until I get it home and get it apart, sadly the intake manifold and carbs, along with the exhaust manifold have been removed but they did leave the cool side exit muffler.

A few areas of concern on the body, could be poor paint (the hood looks rusty from the pictures but being FRP it's clearly poor paint) but I'm prepared for the worst. I have a long journey ahead of me

Thanks, current plan is to get it legal (very easy in the UK, just pay someone £50 for a certificate and then pay the government a registration fee) and run it as a street legal track car.
It'll be horrid to drive on the road, so only use it to get to the track and back, the odd show and meet. But first, I'll have to see what condition it's in when it rolls out of the container, it could be a total bare shell restoration as it's been left for a while.

Mechanical missing parts are no big deal, in that you can at easily get them for sure from the US in exchange for money. The Coupe-specific parts you're missing that you might want to add back to the car (if any), well...

Seems like a perfect candidate for your intended use. I'm surprised you can get an MOT for that so easily...or is this a wink-wink, nudge-nudge MOT?

Classic cars (before 1960) in the UK don't need an MOT, road tax is free for anything older than 1974. This being an early 70s does need an MOT, but it doesn't need the emissions test, it's more to make sure the tyres are legal, lights work and it's not rotten. My mate 'Dave' does own a MOT station though I use to have a Hillman Imp (Stiletto sunbeam in the US I believe) and that was usually a phone call and a letter in the post

I'm missing the carbs, Intake manifold and exhaust manifold. Relatively easy parts to find. Probably easier to get over in the states and posted than from Japan. Exhaust can be custom made by a friend.

I just figured the MOT rule book would spontaneously combust at the sight of the oil cooler.

It was cool, but a little mad, mine has a Mazda 12a rotary engine in the boot, oh and an eaton M90 supercharger. If you want one, I can keep an eye out in the UK and help with export, but I won't be back in the UK full time for at least another 12 months.

I honestly have no idea if it's legal having an oil cooler on the front, there are a few 'Bosozoku style' car's showing up now, I've asked the question and nobody has said it's not legal.

You like em strange. But I too had an RX4 at one time - my only Rotory car I've owned.

I was introduced to a Sunbeam Imp on a historics rally years ago. The driver/co-driver made the car look young, they were awesome as I was hardly old enough to have a license at the time.

I have photographs somewhere of that event. There was a Lotus Cortina on that rally too if I recall.

Can't wait to see what you'll do with the coupe. They are rare as hens teeth, but that one looks pretty chopped up already so I think all you can do is do it justice.

Yeah the Coupe is pretty rare, they are expensive and hard to get out of Japan too. As far as I know, there isn't another Coupe in the UK, I did ask on the UK Datsun forum but didn't get 1 reply, guess they didn't like my car.

I was always going to 'cut up' and modify what ever car I got, luckily for me this one was already done in a style that I liked. Hopefully this one can live, and a nice Coup can be restored elsewhere.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I can't wait to get back to the UK (first time since I left I've said that) to start work on this.

Sorry to get off topic but, what transaxle did you end up using for the rotary? vw/porsche? subaru?
