Photobucket has ruined this thread. I will go through it all one day and fix the broken links. Time flies, I've been traveling again, hikes an active volcano, went for a bike ride on it too, done a road bike race, a charity ride, said goodbye to summer and now off work until the new year. Time to get things done and catch up on some projects.

A while back I had a free day to take the Bluebird out the garage and get it transported up to my mates who'll be doing some fabrication work for me. Obviously the car doesn't start, the tyres were flat and the brakes were locked on. I have no idea where Mercedes keep the towing eye on my C class so I had to use the Mazda RX4 to tow the 510 out.

Surprised after over a year of being abandoned, it fired up in about 30 seconds and towed the little Bluebird out no problem.

All 3 Coupes together:

Off to see my mate James

Parked it up behind his pokey Subaru and next to his R32 GTR so in good company

Then after some cutting and welding, things started happening

Wow. your mate looks like he does some very nice work. I think I'll copy that but in mild steel one day.

I hope you're going to keep the car looking more or less the same on the outside, it just has such a cool racecar look to it.

Yes, outside will stay roughly the same, I do have have plans to replace all the rusty bits and do a sympathetic restoration to try keep it as close to how it is now.

They are the OER (SK Engineering) 45mm carbs on a Kameiari intake. Purchased direct from them in Japan. No idea what they're like. A copy of the Weber design, except externally adjustable float level as well as an adjustable accelerator pump so should be easier to tune. Parts for them are easy to get and they take Weber jets.

Thanks, it's rather special, only about 3 of them over here. It is a 12a bridge port, Weber IDA 48. New Zeland import. Sadly full of rust :(

Rusty is relative...wish I had some of the “too rusty” stuff from years ago.

It's going to be saved one day.

Here is a walk around wrapping video of it from a few years ago.

It was supposed to be finished by now, but as my mate is doing it in his spare time and on his driveway, things got in the way like the weather, lack of light and trying to find some decent metal to weld the hangers too.

The system is now finished, we just need to fix a bit of rust up by the trunk drops so we have something solid to weld a hanger on to.

As straight as possible and tucked up out the way as much as possible. Hindsight, probably should have made a customer brace for the gearbox to get it further up.

ImageUntitledhttps://www.flickr.com/photos/125537058@N02/

Something to make it a little quieter

ImageUntitledhttps://www.flickr.com/photos/125537058@N02/

So much deliberation about the tail pipe, the amount of poke and weather or not to go for a down turned dolphin nose (I loved the RE Amemiya dolphin system I had on my FD) or straight out.

And that header again.

So this might not seem a big update for most of you, but for me, this has been almost 4 years coming. When I purchased the car, I've been between 700 - 90 miles away. When you're living overseas, working full time, on the weekend trying to renovate a house, season ticket holder for your football team, have an addiction to cycling, a girlfriend, love of traveling and holidays and sometimes just want to sit on the sofa, Netflix and chill, not a lot of work has happened. Today, I finally took delivery of my Nissan Bluebird P510 SSS Coupe. I'm a happy boy.

Nice to be able to see it from the kitchen.

That super rare Checkman racing seat

And possibly my favourite view of the car

Exhaust is a masterpiece.

Time to take a look at some of the poor work that'll need re doing.

Yeah, not impressed.

As always more important things in life are taking up all my time and money. One was escaping the crummy UK winter and heading back 'home' to France to spend some time in the mountains.

Now back I started to poke about a bit, this was the better side.

It's mostly body filler covering up the rust. I have replacement body panels, so hopefully I'll get some time over easter.
