"1800SSS" historic racing project

Post by MK510 »

Hello from Finland!

This is my Datsun 1800SSS historic/vintage racing project that i've been build slowly few years.

The car is originally 1969 1300deluxe 4door, it is going to be build for historic racing FIA period G2(1970-1971) group2 competition touring car using FIA homologation papers no:5397 for 1800SSS model.

Starting point was very good, almost rust free, only few small spots to weld, some surface rust to clean and dents to straighten:

Roll gage build, i cut holes on the front floor, then drop gage through and welded upper sides:

Gage ready, seat braces and firewall done:

Nice work on the bottom of the car.

What does it take (that is out of the ordinary) to put that FIA head into service? Nice find.

50mm carbs, and the header. Different intake manifold and header could easily be made, if necessary. Head bolts to an L block.

Nice work!

This photo might be of some interest to you-- an FIA prepared RHD Bluebird Coupe-- with nice details of the head, carbs and intake:

You can have the chokes opened up a couple of mm if you feel that there is restriction.

Is this the project you purchased the Datsun style bolt on flares for?
