One last post tonight...

So suspension and engine were figured out, now I had to figure out how I was going to stop this thing. Luckily for me the previous owner had sourced a set of Wilwood calipers for the front of the car. We then figured out that a set of 80's Maxima rear calipers would work for the rear disc brakes.

(Oh and I guess I forgot to mention we put on a BRE spook and test fit the chrome pieces on the car)

As a mod, I can't help too much. But max size is 250kb, maybe reducing to that size might help.

Awesome project, and since I too am a lover of 68's, this is very cool and I'm so happy you went back the original dash.

So I'll jump ahead a little since some people have had interest in the dash. I certainly went with the 68 dash, but I may upset some purists, because ... well, the title does say restomod... I realized that the main advantage of the later dashes was that it had a tach and that a 68 doesn't. Well I wanted a tach... and an oil pressure gauge... and water temp... and I'm addicted to gauges. So we were able to get a set of Defi gauges that are not for sale here in the US. We had to custom order them in Japan. We were able to select the faces, and also match the lighting color to match the night glow of the 68 dash. Wish I had a picture of it at night...

Maybe it's just easier to show everyone how it ended up before they get too upset with them thinking I cut the entire thing up.

Another small little 68 specific project was the taillights. My taillights were not any good. So I bought another set online... and they weren't great either. So I got another set... still nothing great.

The biggest problem was that almost all of the plastic parts that hold the bulbs were burned out. But after 3 set there were enough good bulb holders on the backs that I could make one good set of 68 taillights. We bought new 68 red lenses and had the clear ones cleaned up.

So a lot of what happened at this point was test fitting everything. Making sure that once the car went off to paint that when it came back everything fit. The previous owner had modified the floor of the car to fit a wider seat in it. So we had to fix that and then we ordered some Kameari seats from Japan and had them shipped in. This actually took a few months to get the seats here for some reason. There were a number of times in this build where we were waiting for things to test fit and it ended up delaying the build. Not ideal, but hopefully patience will lead to a better end product. We did eventually get the seats test fitted.

Damn, still can't see the pics, pissin' me off ;) Any other source?

FYI, the last one I can see is the spook and chrome comment one.

If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Or Flickr. Make sure you upload as public if you want to embed pics on a public forum.

That engine sounds awesome! We'd love to see the dyno sheet.

YES!!!! It's really hard to troubleshoot something when you can't replicate the problem. But glad the time I put in to fixing it did the job.

Ok... back to the story...

So the wheels were SSR Reverse Mesh that I had shipped from Japan. The wheels had to be completely restored. I had gotten all of them at very good prices and it took me months to get the correct faces/sizes/offsets that I needed, but once I had them here it was time for restoration.
