Chocolate covered circus peanut

Post by icehouse »

YEAAHHHH!!! Coupe Coupe Coupe Coupe!!!!!! After riding in Rich's and Carter's coupes and seeing them drive around I've wanted one. Big thanks to Carter for helping make this happen in more ways than one! Carter and I actually have been working with an importer for I think over a year, and would you guess he found this one local on Craigslist!!!! It was posted Friday, I got a frantic text with a link to the add. Of coarse like any Craigslist shopper I didn't read the add I just called him. Guess what, I was the first caller and he promised to let me look at it first thing on Saturday. Like good Datsun shoppers Carter drove us down in his Coupe :) The plans are to just drive it and just do little things. It runs and drives fine, stumbles sometimes but I think that's due to bad gas and hopefully will go away with some driving. Carter named it due to the color which is interesting. haha Here are some pictures of it.

It's an interesting coupe due to it not being a SSS, it's also an Auto! haha. It's defiantly had some bad rust repair in the rockers, fenders and quarters, the funny thing to me is the floors are nice and rust free. Or at least they seem that way. It does have a 620 ignition which I don't like. Small stuff can be changed as I drive it.

Neat car Jeff, looks to be completed which is a wallet saver as well.

Did you get much history with the car, where it came from and how long it's been in NA?

So what are your plans now with the car?

The dude just buys cars and sells them. He wanted to unload this one, it was way rustier than he thought it was. No real history.

Added lights for safety, like third brake lights.

Carter made me some treats!

Worked on her a little after I got home today. I wanted to put the plates on and cruise her around. Well it STINKS like gas, and that's coming from a dude who daily drives Datto's. So I decided to take the wood thing off that covers the tank. Well someone did a terrible job of removing and reinstalling the sender which caused a leak. Their genius fix was to cut a hole in the "spare tire" and place it under the drip. They even made the rubber touch the tank to wick the fuel into the tire. Needless to say there is gas everywhere. I drained what I could. This weekend I'm going to remove the interior and clean it out.

If you look closely at the upper right corner the O ring is showing, or half of it. They split it.

This vent was also broken and dripping gas. yuck!

I wonder if I have a new belt? :)

Did they cut a drain hole in the bottom of the tire to drain out the body plug hole in the spare tire well?
