Five-Hundred and Ten
Five-Hundred and Ten Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/4yFs4FReGdygkJ7X2
June 2016 my son and I drove to Vernon BC to pick up this 1972 4 Dr. It was in storage for 25 years 99% complete (missing 1 hub cap) and almost all original except for the paint. This is the first post in this section and wanted to start from the beginning. Car has been sand blasted and waiting to be primed.(Jan 10,2018) I will post some of the progress between then and now to bring this project up to date.

Re: Five-Hundred and Ten
yep. thanks. Looks like a great starting point. Love that green!
Re: Five-Hundred and Ten
Great project, and quite happy that you are taking back to the original green colour.
I had a modded 68 in this colour for years back in the 90’s;

And my brother and I restored his 72 in the late 00’s which was this colour;

Look forward to your updates, and it’ll be great to have another local 510.

Re: Five-Hundred and Ten
I built a cart to set the body on to finish disassembly. Glad my middle son (K-Breezy) is a good welder. My welding is not good.
We have ordered front fenders, rockers, rear quarters, trunk drops, wheelhouse's, and rear tail light panel from Dave at Futofab. Still need a front valence but they are on back order. Ours is OK but would like to install a new one.
The upper inner fender is where the worst of the rust is. We removed the passenger side (right side in Can/US) upper inner fender and can use it to fabricate new ones.
Also removed the left side upper inner fender, mounted the body on a rotisserie, and dissembled the doors to get ready for sand blasting.
Off to the Blaster

Re: Five-Hundred and Ten
Glad you enjoyed the above links to a couple previous builds of mine - thanks for the comment on my brothers build.
Neither car had any rust repair worthy of note, it looks like you’ve got more work on your hands ahead of you.
I have an NOS pair of those inner box sections below the top of the fenders. They are not for sale but if you wanted to take measurements, I’d make them available to you.
Keep the posts coming, great to see another being resurrected.

Sand blasting pictures.
Doors are near perfect!
Floor is good except for a couple minor spots.

Got the car back from being epoxy primed. Now its time to repair all the rust areas. Body parts from Futofab are in Portland (tracking info). Maybe have the parts by the weekend.

Re: Five-Hundred and Ten
I also stopped by the local auto wrecker to see if they had any Subaru STI's that I could get a R180 LSD out of. They said I could go look around as they had a few Subaru's. They told me they were in the "Euro" section. (I thought Subaru's were Japanese) Well I didn't find any STI's but I found a 280ZX.
I figured i may as well grab the front struts, hubs, and breaks. Who knows the next time I will find another Datsun that has parts I may need. Looked like an engine fire is what landed it at the junker. The reservoirs on the master cylinder were a 1/2 melted so I figured it may cost more to repair than to get one in better condition.
