J-Rod polishing chrome trim.

We also removed the battery base in the engine bay. The battery will get moved to the trunk.

Used a copper backer to fill in small mounting holes in the engine bay.

Work is steadily progressing. Started removing the rocker panels and fixing more rust holes.

Rust behind rocker panel to fixed.

Not the most pretty piece, but considering it was made with a hammer and pliers it's not to bad.

Progress is really coming along.

Fabrication of the complete dog leg section of the door jamb, especially on the drivers side looks like it’s going to be a real challenge. That’s a huge section of material missing.

Good that you are confirming fit of the panels as you move along. And also quite fortunate that the bottom of the doors themselves were in good shape, considering other areas which were quite gone.

Hats of to the whole crew at home. What a great family project.

Looks amazing so far.

You should take the time to fill in the indent on the fender well where the battery tray used to be. Having both fender wells smooth and symmetrical will give the engine bay a much nicer finished look. Some people have put a cut in the metal, hammered it out and then rewelded it.

Fitting the outer wheelhouse in. The flange around the top of the wheelhouse is 100% welded to the inner wheelhouse. (not spot welded) This makes removal a tedious job.

As suggested we removed the bump in the front wheel well where the battery used to be mounted.

Cut it out and used a piece from the old rear outer wheel house.

Before installing the right rear quarter we installed a battery box in the trunk floor.

K breezy made the box 11" x 8" x 6" deep

Cut the hole in the trunk floor and tacked the box in with 1/2" sticking up past the floor. This allows the box to drop 5-1/2 " below the floor and still be hidden by the fender and rear valance.
