Zootowndime's Dime

Post by zootowndime »

Well here she is, my 1972 510. Picked it up for $500 bucks. The body is not totally straight, but it is no the worse one either. Picked it up last Septmeber in '05 and haven't stopped since. Just got a digital camera, so I am sorry i can't show you any photos of what it looked like when i first got it, but it was all stock and the gross orange color as you will somewhat see. here are the pictures. Enjoy!

The bad stuff. Only a couple rust spots, but should be pretty easy to fix.

Looks like your coming along.
It's good to see that people still like to "build" their cars.
Good on ya!
Just curious, what's the paint code on that car? Should be a three-digit number on the rad support, if it's an original one.

No offence taken... I just find it more efficient to pay someone instead of slaving hours and hours to work on something. For a guy that use to take 1.5 hours to change oil, I think I have to be a little more efficient. I have sanded my share of bondo,
skinned enough knuckles, ruined nice clothes... you name it... and also I am still depending on your
Spook that you reserved for me... :D

You know caesar, your right - you may be the smart guy here after all, I mean, you just get to drive it afterwards; and isn't that what we're here for?

Spooks awaitin' your arrival, as well as your spare....no worries, their not going anywhere.

Zootown, car is coming along well, keep us posted, looks like your doing everything at once.

Well i am trying to get everything done close to what i want the first time. I had a honda civic, that i just couldn't stand, and after seeing a 510 for my first time i was in love. Bought my 510 before i even sold my honda, and started working on it right away back in september of 05. I have been trying to do most everything myself, and with help from others, but damn has it been a good learning experience. I have a few cool ideas, but sorry i am not making it rhd/awd/rb26dettttttt. Guess i will leave that to the dreamers that don't know much about the real world of cars. This is the first car that i have ever really "rebuilt", but i have been working on cars forever. Thanks for the comments guys, i will be sure to add pictures as they come.

i hear ya! why make it RHD/AWD/RB26DETTTTTTT when you can fabricate a center drive system and bore it out to 2.8L!

as for paying someone else to do the work for you. i can understand where your coming from. my dad is totally like that. if something breaks, he would just rather someone else figure it out and get it done. he doesnt want the stress. but for me, thats the whole joy of working on something. when it gives you issues, when it doesnt want to work the first time it becomes a battle between me and the task im working on. and when you FINALLY get it to work you can say to it, "thats right bitch! stay down!" man i love cars!

I love the carbed KA. Thats a sweet setup, a little old, a little new. Car looks awesome, keep doing it yourself, it feels that much beter in the end.
