My project

Post by HEATHEN »

First and only resized pic will post more. Ok I put up another this is me going down hill to the garage, probably the fastest this 510 is going to see for awhile. Last 3 or 4 weeks I have been on the sr20 and the 240 sx forums lurking about. I am unsure of what motor I want to use either all motor KA or turbo SR. Tough choices but I do have plenty of time. I think I am going to start on the interior, seats, gauges, roll cage.

SWEET L-turbo! Your handywork? What kind of carb are you sucking through? Amount of boost? Gimme all the good stuff.

I do not want you all to think I dont appreciate Datsuns so here is the story. This is my second 510 first one had an L20b with single carb all the suspension mods and hauled ass for an 18 year old kid. When I first started dating my now wife for 11 years. I remember walking into her dads garage a recognizing the box like shape under the car cover. His wife had bought the car brand new and after about 14 years of driving he decided to tear it down and rebuild. He has been working on it since that time. The motor is an L1600 about 8.5 to 1 compression, turbo is designed for about 8lbs of boost. He bought this turbo kit from someone? The car has never been started! I dont have a carb. The turbo is a draw through design, which i am concerned about. If I keep this motor I would most likely want to replace the turbo with a newer, lighter design and somehow put fuel injection on it.Any ideas about this would be great. One more thing looks like autopower makes a cage for the car, you guys think I should get the bolt in kit or weld in? Good morning from San Diego..

Cool car.

I like the bolt in kit roll cages myself.

Look like someone cut the core support at one time(maybe to pull the radiator out )

This is very cool, post up more pics. Post a pic of where the potential carb would go, this might give us an idea of what carb might have been destined for it. Suck throughs have been used lots on 510's, TURBO TOM being one of them. I use a blow through on mine.

Well, you don't need a huge carb. I have seen guys use a single 44mm SU on a Z-car with a suck though turbo. I have a 44mm slide valve Mikuni motorcycle carb that I think would work perfectly for something like this. I'm no expert though.
