Re: New swap-4G63T
I had the same issues with my 300zx mod now sealing. I eventually had a shop here in town build a new tank with a sump and an external pump. When I had the 300 with stock tank I had huge starvation issues at half tank while at the track on long left hand turns. So it was either that or have fuel spill out because of not sealing properly..... I eventually had a shop build me the tank, it was around $650 for them to built it. It now has external pump which is a little loud but I did seal off the back seat to help.

Re: New swap-4G63T
I made a little video of the install of my T3 coilovers and camber plates. I have an issue keeping me from running the camber plates that hopefully T3 can help me resolve.

Re: New swap-4G63T
So, #4G63510 made it to its first road course event.
I was very worried about the brakes after my B210 booster install. They're still not great, but I felt safe enough to be on course.
My Tomei R200 1.5 way LSD worked great. I could definitely feel that the car was putting power down to both rear tires. No drama or lag from spinning one tire.
The car ran great and I was easily keeping up with Miatas in the turns and staying with higher horsepower cars on the straights. I have a lot to learn about driving, but the car did well. That is until the last session. I was not feeling the power that I had all day and took a peak at my boost gauge on the straight. I was only making 5psi at 5k RPM instead of 10+psi. After I pulled into the pit area I took a peak at all of my vacuum lines and such in case there was a leak, and then I noticed this:
I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to do that. It's disappointing that a part that is considered high quality would do that. It also seems like an odd failure in general. Thankfully it was the last session, and I was able to drive home. Overall it was a success and I can't wait for the next event.

Congrats on getting a track day under your belt! Some follow up work required but there are certainly guys out there worse off.
I stumbled upon this 4G63 tidbit today... 6.20 1/4 mile and 1HP/cc! https://youtu.be/Quk8HYRHgGI

Here are 2 laps from that days road course event. I know I'm not fast, and I have a LOT to learn, but it was a blast.

On a side note, the waste gate just had the screws come loose. Thankfully it's an easy(ish) fix, but it will likely happen again.

Re: New swap-4G63T
It's a Synapse Engineering unit. It really is a quality unit, but the use of screws and loc-tite to hold it onto a searing hot part probably isn't the best. They were quick to let me know what the issue was with the unit, but did not provide any directions on disassembly or reassembly. I'm hoping the toque specs of "good-n-tight" will work. They even sell a "rebuild" kit that has seals and oil, but I can't find any info on actually rebuilding it.
I'll have a chance to test it out a bit this Sunday at the next autocross event. I'll also see how the brakes are holding up. I haven't driven the car much since that event since it's too cold to drive without a heater

Re: New swap-4G63T
If that waste gate turns out to be a pain in the ass, The Turbonetics ones are great..ZERO issues and well designed.
That mounting looks "standard".
http://www.turboneticsinc.com/performan ... -wastegate
You can see the "heat sink" for the valve stem and the diaphragm body is well up and away from the heat and the body it self goes up high, so the screws that hold the lid and diaphragm in place are isolated from heat. I have never lost a diaphragm and only wear them out after years and years of use.

Re: New swap-4G63T
It's been a while since I've updated this. I've been fighting some issues. I've got the whole chassis rewired with Deutsch connectors. Swapped in a 7/8" MC with the booster, and then without the booster. I'm still fighting braking issues. None of that stops me from taking the car out to autocross and have fun. Here is a run from the May 19th session.
https://youtu.be/N8vES_FLiSE
I ran a 48.873 this run with a cone. I ran a 48.501 earlier in the day without video. My co driver ran a best of 45.483 and the top driver in an Alfa 4c had a 41.4 second run.
I'll be posting various "help" threads for specific issues I'm having. I've been posting inside of other's threads and I feel like I'm hijacking what the original topic is. If there is an issue with my multiple posts, please let me know.

Re: New swap-4G63T
Ask away, we are here to help. It is good that your co-driver showed there is time in the car as far as you are concerned, that is good. I will watch your run...that is always hard as MY seat is NOT feeling what you are in terms of grip and other subtleties of how your car is handling.
If there is a faster driver, with more experience, that you trust...let them drive your car...YOU watch...see how they do.
One of the best things ever did was watch a good driver, drive my car, put some good time on me, and offer feedback as to what might or might not be an issue.
Will be back.

Re: New swap-4G63T
After the Powerland show, I thought it would be a good idea to add a list of the parts my car is made up of. We were having discussions about how many different cars parts make up each of our projects, and I thought I'd write it all down. My best guess is about 28 different car models make up my current build. Here is a list of the current parts. I'll update this over time to keep it accurate and relevant.

Re: New swap-4G63T
I did, but they only have a few miles on them since the motor is down. I had a rough idle after my trip, and it turns out I have low compression in cylinder #4 due to an exhaust valve leak. Time to rebuild the head, but I'm out of town for vacation, so it's on the back burner.
