Shiny New Dimes

Post by S15DET »

Here's my "shiny like a new dime" entrant. I just got it back home Saturday and I'm very happy with it. Its hard to be sure about a color until you see it on the car, and I'm very pleased about this shade of white. It's a BMW Mini color called pepper white, code 850.

Cool. Here's a link to my photo gallery.

There's a few more photos of the new paint on page 4.
In the original "shiny" thread, there were several pictures of beautiful paint jobs, I hope they'll find their way to this thread. They are inspirational.

OK, here's mine from a couple of years ago. Doesn't look quite this good any more, a couple of wrinkles here and there now.

I did everything except the outside of the body. If I remember right it cost about $1,200. It was not that easy to find a place that had an oven that was big enough though :D

I've been waiting 18 years to do this (34 - 16 = 18) :mrgreen:
The entire shell was taken down to bare metal, the floor pan was coated inside and out, then the life was put back into it with a VW blue. The cage is a Audi metallic grey/silver. Its very nerve racking to choose a color from a sample painting on a small portion of a deck lid, then wait to see the entire car finished with doubt and anxiety floating through out your head until it shows up in the drive way. :shock: I couldnt be any happier with the way it turned out. It's as close to perfect as it could get for me.
You can follow the process of piecing it back together here;

Cheers
