dogleg 5 speed shifter bushings

Post by obrut »

I got a dogleg 5 speed with my 510 when I bought it but it was not in the car. I need to know where I can order the shifter handle plastic bushing, pin and I think there is a spring. Also what part number or year and make car do I use to order a pilot and throw out bearing? This will be attached to a L20B.

that shifter looks like the type used in the late 280zx 5-speeds, not like the type used in the dogleg transmissions.

That shifter is from an '80s 71B transmission. The '82-'83 S110 200sx, the '84-'86.5 S12 200sx, the later '83 and up 720, the '81-'84 Maxima and the later non turbo 280zx. If I can remember I can post the part numbers for these and perhaps narrow down the exact years. Nissan may still have these available.

If you are using your current clutch, use the release bearing collar (aka housing) that you have on your clutch arm and swap it to the dogleg. With a new bearing of course. The Datsun release bearing is the most common part used from the mid '60s through the 90s at least. Don't cheap out on these as they are hard to get at to change in 8 months time.

I'll get you the part numbers for the pilot, release bearing and the output seal... always a good idea as this is a $3 part but easier to do before installing the transmission.

Pilot bushing........... 32202-30000 even used in the 2004 Pathfinder and may still be today
Release bearing....... 30502-21000 even used in the 2004 Pathfinder and may still be today
Dogleg rear seal...... 32136-U0100 also used in the '99 300zx.

The shifter bushings I'll have to look into a bit more as there are more than one kind. I may have both and will get some measurements. I know the two side ones have a small spring inside. You can put them in upside down to raise the fulcrum point and shorten your shift throw. I'll have to look into this.

thanks for the part numbers and the reply. Here is a picture of everything I received with my car that I think is for the transmission (not sure on the two rubber mounts).

Im going to buy a new clutch master and slave cylinder and a new rubber or braided SS line. I'm not sure that the shifter I have is going to be the right angle and height for a 510. I think the other shifter is from the stock trans, it has a 4 speed shift patter on the knob.

Are the two rubber mounts for the trans mount between the body and the mount?

The shifter on the far right is for the F4W63 used in the 510/521 and later 610/710/A10

The shifter style to it's left was used on the '81-'84 Maxima and mostly after '81 on the 720 and the 280zx (non turbo) the '84-'86 S12. They may have been bent into different shapes to fit the vehicle. In the picture below it has a sort of S bend on the 720 trucks. If you want put in a vice and put a 3 foot pipe over the end and bent to suit. You can even mount it backwards to position closer to the seat or fit the hole in the floor. I have.

'79 280zx mid ratio 5 speed fitted with '85 diesel tail and 720 shifter with bushing flipped to raise the fulcrum point and shorten the throw.

The large flat bushings with the spring, the pin and the cup bushing on the bottom are...

32855-Q0100 control pin bushing (2)
32858-Q0100 spring
32849-H1010 pin
32861-H7301 control lever bushing (bottom cup)

thanks for the part numbers, is there an online nissan dealer that you recommend to get these parts or do I just go to my local dealer?
