Saved a Valve Cover from destruction

Post by oldschool80sguy » 11 Aug 2011 17:35

I saved this valve cover from the scrap yard, cleaned it / blasted it and smoothed it. What color should i paint it and what would you think the value of it should be? I don't need it. just wanted to restore it and give it to a good home.

I like them black with the raised lettering and stripes sanded off to aluminum.

Flat black, with a good primer. Or wrinkle black, wrinkle red, or regular grey/silver also looks good.

Yeah love that sanded off lettering look also!

Very subjective subject!

they seem to sell for next to nothing in with other stuff like you got, 25- 50 cleaned up and painted, to 70-80 bucks for a powder coated one.

Sick ideas guys, i went with a regular hi temp silver though, its not for me and since i haven't found anyone who wants it i don't want to put too much time into it. it came out good. I am going to use these ideas on my VG33 though, Awesome!
